ABOUT THE ROLE:

The Cultivation Team Lead is responsible for assisting the Cultivation Supervisor with the operations of the cultivation department in accordance with state regulations and standards set forth by PTS Corp. This position helps support cultivation agents by providing training on department procedures, delegating tasks, enforcing policies, and assessing performance. The Cultivation Team Lead maintains organization, cleanliness, and efficiency of production areas and carries out day-to-day plant care tasks that includes watering, pruning, defoliating, and trimming.

Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Report to Supervisor daily; assist in duties as assigned.
  • Provide guidance with the organization of work duties and communicate direction to cultivation agents to execute tasks.
  • Ensure all employees receive proper training for the tasks at hand and the tasks are being completed accordingly to the SOPs.
  • Communicate company goals, safety practices, and deadlines to team.
  • Ensure all employees are aware and adhere to the company policies.
  • Motivate team members and assesses performance.
  • Ensure daily compliance with policies including but not limited to; state compliance, security protocols, and company SOPs.
  • Report any issues, problem, and/or difficulties with equipment or personnel to Supervisor/Manager.
  • Responsible for plant health care and yields.
  • Measure and mix nutrient and plant applications; apply mixtures to plants.
  • Spray for pest management if needed.
  • Daily plant care that includes watering, pruning, defoliating, de-fanning, and trimming.
  • Transplanting, potting, trellising, netting, plant training, and other various plant production related activities needed throughout the cultivation process.
  • Cloning: cutting, rooting, and transplanting; clone care, watering, and feeding; clone monitoring and climate control.
  • Monitor plant growth, health, and appearance in the grow rooms; regularly inspect plants for signs of pests and/or disease; report any insect, pest, or mold issues to management.
  • Document and record the application of all nutrients and/or substances applied to all plants.
  • Maintain organization, cleanliness, and efficiency of production area.
  • General cleaning duties, e.g., scrubbing and sanitizing trays and tools and cleaning miscellaneous growing equipment such as light reflectors and ventilation equipment.
  • Sanitize rooms post-harvest according to best practices.
  • Adhere to strict biological security protocols to aid in the efforts of preventing contamination.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Physical Requirements:
  • Must be physically able to climb ladders or scaffolding, bend, kneel, or crawl into awkward spaces.
  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Prolonged periods of hand use.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Must wear Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) at appropriate times as this position may be exposed to splash hazards, high temperatures, and chemicals.

Must haves:

Education and Experience:

  • To remain compliant with state law, you must be 21 years of age or older and can pass a background check to obtain a Department of Agriculture Agent Card.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 2 years of experience in general production or manufacturing position.
  • Completed Pesticide Operator test and receive License within 30 days.

Desired Qualifications:
  • Associate degree in Horticulture, Plant Science or Cannabis Production preferred.
  • 2 years of experience in a general cannabis cultivation, commercial production gardening, or agricultural setting.
