Essential Job Functions Key Responsibilities:Operational Oversight:
  • Ensuring tasks are completed effectively and on schedule.
  • Perform hands-on custodial tasks when necessary, particularly in difficult or high-traffic areas.
  • Inspect facilities for cleanliness and instruct employees on proper cleaning techniques and equipment use.
  • Distribute, and maintain an inventory of custodial supplies; ensure appropriate materials are used.
  • Ensure the proper use of custodial equipment, including industrial floor machines, carpet extractors, and buffing equipment.
Training & Development:
  • Provide training to new custodial staff on cleaning methods, equipment operation, and safety protocols.
  • Monitor employee performance and provide guidance or corrective actions as needed.
  • Foster a culture of safety and efficiency in custodial operations.
Communication & Coordination:
  • Meet with building occupants and department heads to address any custodial concerns or issues.
  • Maintain clear, open communication with team members, supervisors, and other departments regarding cleaning schedules, concerns, and operational needs.
  • Ability to make simple reports and maintain accurate records.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Constant walking and standing, reaching above shoulders, kneeling, bending, squatting and use of both hands and feet. Frequent bending and stooping.
  • Frequent heavy lifting (up to 75lbs).
  • Frequent light carrying (30lbs or less).
  • Good balance, eye/hand coordination, near/far vision and good hearing.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS AND WORK HAZARDS:
  • Constant work inside and outside of facilities in a standing, stooping or bending posture. Some areas of the facilities have high dust levels which may cause allergic reactions.
  • Possibility of reactions to certain types of cleaners used in the course of janitorial work.
  • Rubber gloves, eye protection, face mask, rubber sole work shoes with good gripping soles. Auto safety belt.

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED). Basic computer skills are required.
  • At least two years of responsible experience in commercial custodial work, including operation of related equipment. Ability to pass through background check.
  • Strong understanding of cleaning methods, materials, and equipment used in commercial custodial work.
  • Familiarity with green cleaning products and environmentally friendly cleaning practices.
  • In-depth knowledge of custodial procedures for maintaining commercial and public facilities.
Additional Information Pay Grade T02This is a union position. PRE-EMPLOYMENT SCREENING: This position requires a physical, drug testing, driver's license verification and level 1 background screening.2024 BOARD APPROVED HOLIDAYS (14 days per year)
