Overview TEC Systems Group is seeking a talented and driven Lead Data Engineer to join our dynamic and collaborative team in Wichita, KS. In this role, you will lead a team of data professionals, including Data Engineers, Data Visualization Analysts, Business Intelligence Developers, and Data Scientists. You will be instrumental in designing and managing scalable data solutions, ensuring data integrity, and optimizing data access across the organization. The ideal candidate is a hands-on leader passionate about mentoring and pushing the boundaries of cutting-edge technologies. Key Responsibilities Provide ongoing technical mentorship to a diverse team with varying skill levels and uphold the highest standards of code quality. Offer expert consulting on the design and development of data pipelines, warehouses, lakes, and ETL solutions. Continuously enhance data infrastructure and processes, aligning with industry best practices and driving automation for efficiency. Collaborate daily with team members, management, and customers to manage data projects and ensure timely delivery within budget. Support technical alignment in meetings and contribute to translating business requirements into technical tasks. Ensure data privacy and integrity, with strict adherence to data privacy regulations such as HIPAA when handling sensitive customer information. Address technical challenges and foster a collaborative environment where team members feel empowered to contribute to problem-solving efforts. Provide accurate project estimates, including labor, tooling requirements, and manage project deliverables. Maintain optimum code quality in SQL. Leadership Responsibilities Lead a high-performing data team by fostering a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement. Conduct regular peer reviews and provide constructive feedback, identifying growth opportunities for team members. Encourage a sense of ownership among team members by fostering an environment where developers feel accountable for their contributions and outcomes. Promote a collaborative, transparent, and open culture, encouraging teams to embrace change, feedback, and continuous learning. Address conflicts within the team constructively, facilitating discussions to arrive at solutions and ensure alignment on technical priorities. Technical Skills Advanced skills in SQL required. Experience with ETL processes, data modeling, and data warehousing. Familiarity with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure) and big data technologies. Knowledge of programming languages such as Python, Java, or Scala. Expertise in Azure Data Factory and Synapse Analytics for ETL processes, big data, and advanced analytics. Skilled in SSIS for automating data workflows and integration tasks. Familiarity with Power BI preferred. Familiarity with OSI Pi and Ignition preferred. Qualifications 3 years in a technical leadership role. 5 years of demonstrable experience using SQL. Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent experience). Exceptional ability to explain complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders. Proven success in managing multiple, concurrent projects with strong organizational and documentation skills.
