SUMMARYThis lead role will integrate information from various sources and analyze it to enhance business development performance. Utilizing advanced computational, statistical, and artificial intelligence tools, the Lead Data Scientist will oversee the automation of processes within the company and uncover valuable insights from vast amounts of data to help Welltower make smarter decisions. The primary focus will be applying data mining and predictive analytics techniques, conducting statistical analysis, and building high-quality prediction systems integrated with our business model.KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead and define the company's data and analytics strategy, overseeing the implementation and integration of predictive analytics applications across the organization to drive data-driven decision-making and optimize business outcomes.
- Develop and implement business-oriented, investment-grade solutions and tools tailored for various teams, including Investments, Asset Management, Capital Markets, and Operations, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and enhancing overall efficiency and performance.
- Design and deliver comprehensive business solutions for operators, managers, and partners, focusing on improving operational effectiveness, streamlining processes, and supporting informed decision-making across the organization.
- Craft and present compelling presentations, sales pitches, and success stories that highlight the value and impact of data-driven solutions, aligning with the company's growth objectives and effectively communicating the benefits to stakeholders and potential investors.
- Lead a commercially oriented data team.
- Develop business and investor-facing solutions.
- Develop predictive models and solutions to consume data for analytics purposes.
- Define appropriate parameters based on department needs and optimize solutions using machine learning techniques.
- Apply data mining methodologies using state-of-the-art resources.
- Create new datasets using both company and third-party sources of information.
- Analyze the output of predictive analytics models to generate valuable insights.
- Enhance the data collection process to ensure the information is relevant for building analytic systems.
- Verify the integrity of data used for predictive analytics.
- Perform ad-hoc projects and present results as needed.
COMPETENCIES
- Strong technical skills including, but not limited to, reporting, programming, predictive modeling, and solution architecture.
- Deep understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms, such as Random Forests, Gradient Boosted Machines, Multivariate Regression, Support Vector Machines, Principal Component Analysis, Partial Least Squares Regression, Neural Networks, etc.
- Advanced experience with common data science toolkits, such as R, RShiny, Python, MatLab, etc.
- Experience with data mining and data visualization tools, such as Alteryx, Tableau, etc.
- Strong applied statistics skills, such as conditional expectations, distribution analysis, correlation, statistical testing, regression, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills with business and technology partners.
- Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to effectively translate business needs into data solutions and vice versa.
- Creative and entrepreneurial skills.
TRAVELOut-of-area and overnight travel is expected as part of this role.MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Experience: A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience. Familiarity with real estate and healthcare industry systems and expertise in business consolidation from diverse source systems is preferred.
- Education: A PhD in Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, or Economics with a focus on predictive analytics solutions is preferred. A Master's degree in Statistics or Mathematics with industry experience is also acceptable. Knowledge of the data and analytics landscape, enterprise profitability, business planning, and forecasting is essential.
