Lake Superior Community Health Center is currently seeking a Lead Dental Assistant for our Superior, WI location.
Job Summary:
The lead dental assistant assists the dentist during examination and treatment of patients, as well as provides day-to-day operational assistance to the dental clinic manager.
Job Qualifications:
* Completion of a CODA accredited Dental Assistant program
* Licensed in the state of Minnesota as a Dental Assistant
* Possession of a high school diploma or GED certificate
* Effective oral and written communication skills
* Three to five years experience in a dental care setting or health care field
* Computer and Microsoft Office software knowledge

* Knowledge of oral health care and dental practices
* Ability to perform critical thinking and utilize complex problem solving skills
* Ability to stay calm and focused in environment of multiple demands and use good judgment in emergency situations
* Strong oral and written communication skills and organizational skills
* Ability to build effective working relationships and use tact, discretion, and diplomacy when working with others
* Basic computer skills; working knowledge of practice management software
Licensure and Credentials:
* Active Registered Dental Assistant License
* Current CPR (BLS) required
Functions and Responsibilities:
1.0 Coordinate daily clinical operations
1.1 In coordination with Clinic Manager and Dental Director, evaluate dental department for best efficiency practices
1.2 Monitor purchases in accordance with purchase order system; verify and approve invoices
1.3 Handle maintenance requests for equipment repairs with repair techs
1.4 Maintains inventory and orders supplies
1.5 Manages infection control practices and reports findings to Clinic Manager
1.6 Serves as Radiation Safety Officer
1.7 Communicates regularly with Dental Clinic Manager regarding staff or facility issues
1.8 Oversees maintenance schedules and holds dental assistants accountable for maintenance of their instruments/equipment
2.0 Responsible for training of dental staff
2.1 Participate in hiring of dental assistant staff
2.2 Provide orientation and training to dental assistants
3.0 Assists dentists by serving as chair-side assistant
3.1 Prepares operatory for client treatment
3.2 Passes instruments
3.3 Performs other routine tasks in care of the client as directed by the dentist
3.4 Provides diagnostic aids to the dentist
3.5 Assists dentist in management of medical and dental emergencies
3.6 Exposes radiographs
3.7 Pours and trims models
4.0 Miscellaneous
4.1 Responsible for personal compliance with LSCHC policies and procedures
4.2 Maintains client confidentiality
4.3 Other duties as assigned
4.4 Ability to travel between sites, as needed, and as otherwise required by the organization
