Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Lead Design Engineer at Proos in Grand Rapids, MI. The Lead Design Engineer will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing material handling systems. This role will focus on developing high-quality automation systems, improving the existing sheet metal catalog, and driving development of CAD modeling/sheet metal design techniques. The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background and a passion for mentoring and developing talent.

Qualifications

· Degree in Mechanical, Industrial or Manufacturing Engineering

· Skilled using parametric modeling software, Autodesk Inventor preferred

· Experience with sheet metal, machining, welding and assembly processes

· Working knowledge of machine components, mechanisms, hydraulics and pneumatics

· Ability to work individually and in a team environment

· Familiar with current engineering standards (ASME, ASTM, AISI, AWS, ISO)

· Strong organizational and time management skills

· Ability to communicate ideas effectively to both internal and external customers

· Experience designing custom tooling, fixtures and gages

· Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T)

· Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA)

· Design and Process Failure Mode Effect Analysis (FMEA)
