WHAT YOU'LL DO
As Lead Driller, you'll spearhead geotechnical drilling operations for foundation repair projects. Your expertise in helical installations, auger drilling, and cast micropiles will be crucial. You'll operate specialized equipment, lead a crew, and work closely with our engineering team to execute precise drilling operations. Career advancement is available. DAY-TO-DAY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate drilling equipment for various geotechnical foundation repair techniques, including drilled shafts, augercast, helicals, tiebacks, micropiles, and drilled-in casing;
- Lead and train crew members in drilling operations and safety procedures;
- Maintain drilling equipment daily to ensure proper and safe functioning;
- Communicate effectively with engineers and general contractors on project requirements and progress;
- Read and interpret drawings and blueprints to ensure accurate installation;
- Understand project schedules, assume additional responsibilities, and work extended hours as needed to meet project deadlines;
- Work cohesively with team members to exceed client expectations;
- Maintain quality control and site safety;
- Research and determine methods and procedures on new or unique assignments in compliance with local, state, and federal regulatory requirements;
- Handle all employee matters with consistency and fairness without discrimination;
- Maintain internal employee communication and engagement through feedback programs, surveys, and one-on-one meetings;
- Align the work with Helicon's culture and strategic goals Stay True, Communicate Clearly, Forecast Needs + Outperform; and
- Work with the team on mutually agreed-upon KPIs.
Requirements:
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
MUST HAVES:
- Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL);
- 2+ years experience in direct drilling and installation techniques, including drilled shafts, augercast, helicals, tiebacks, micropiles, and drilled-in casing;
- Proven ability to train and lead crew members;
- Proficiency in daily equipment maintenance;
- Excellent communication skills and confidence in interacting with engineers and general contractors;
- Ability to read and understand drawings and blueprints;
- High School diploma, GED or equivalent;
- Reliable transportation, valid FL driver's license, and a clean driving record;
- Familiarity with construction project team management and delegation;
- The ability to be coached and mentored and collaborate within a team environment;
- Possess excellent project management skills with the proven ability to drive ideas into action;
- Enjoy thinking strategically to align perspectives, voices, and opinions;
- A good human who cares about all humans;
- Knowledge of drilling processes, codes, and standards; and
- Well-organized and able to meet deadlines.

WORK SCHEDULE:
- Varies; will require flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays;
- Local day travel is required; and
- Position requires occasional overtime.
ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:
- Work near or with moving mechanical parts Frequently;
- Outdoor weather conditions Occasionally; and
- Moderate-Loud Noise.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Must be able to lift/carry/push or pull - up to 50 pounds;
- Must be able to hear equipment operating, alarms sounding, traffic, telephones; and
- Ability to see clearly at 20 inches/50 centimeters or less and at 20 feet/6 meters or more.
Compensation details: 22-28 Hourly Wage
