Overview As the Lead Driver - Trainer, you will own a critical element of onboarding for new drivers and navigators. You will also be responsible for driving all aspects of training for experienced team members to include PACE and other safety training, efficiency coaching, certification andrecertification, etc. Additional responsibilities include partnering with building leadership to evaluate and refine existing training programs, build training for new processes and initiatives, monitor and impact training effectiveness, and participate in continuous improvement initiatives as assigned. - Assists with or owns developing, refining, delivering and managing all new hire classroom and hands-on training for Transportation, including new hire progress checks and certification within the first 90 days
- Assists with or owns developing, refining, delivering and managing PACE training and general safety training for new hires as well as currency training for experienced team members
- Lead efforts on training approach and maximizing success rate of Driver Development Program
- Identifies and drives best practices to increase the effectiveness of the training program for new hires and experienced team members
- Partners with Supervisors to identify process opportunities for experienced team members to improve safety, efficiency, or quality of work including performing PACE, safety or process orientated observations and audits as assigned
- Participates in and lends process expertise toward Kaizen events and other process improvement initiatives as assigned
- Partners with Supervisors to roll out and train new processes and initiatives as needed
- Recertifies experienced team members on systems, equipment, functions, safety and procedures
- Participates in the development and revision of SOP's and Job Instructions to ensure consistency, efficiency and safety
- Ensures all training documents, materials and processes adhere to company SOP's and policies
- Assists in developing, documenting and delivering safety programs and initiatives
- Performs Road Tests for Driver candidates, internal and external
- Active and effective member of Safety Committee
- Capable of performing all delivery duties when not actively engaged in training responsibilities
Minimum Qualifications Required Business Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7 years driving with a CDL-A
- Strong presentation, facilitation, and written/verbal communication skills
- Exemplary record of performance, safety, driving history and culture
- Clean MVR
- Proven record of working independently with little oversight - High degree of initiative and urgency
- Exceptional attention to detail and organization
- Thorough understanding of transportation operational priorities, dependencies, and processes
- Ability to build effective relationships at all levels of the organization
- Comfortable with Microsoft programs to include Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Office, etc.
- Solutions orientated proactive problem solver
Preferred Qualifications
- 10+ years driving with a CDL-A
- Food or beverage delivery experienced
- Experience leading training and facilitating meetings
- Experience as a CDL Behind The Wheel Trainer
- Transportation Leadership experience
