Lead Electrical Design Engineer - Simulation & Training (Onsite) The Simulation and Training Solutions group is looking for a skilled Senior Electrical Engineering professional who will lead the electrical hardware development and modification efforts of aircraft and ground vehicle simulators in Binghamton, NY. Devices range in complexity from simple desktop and part-task trainers to high-fidelity weapon simulation and full-flight training systems. Trainer systems typically comprise both clean-sheet design and design reuse; and are a composite of custom hardware and off-the-shelf equipment. You will be responsible for determining the needs for electrical input/output, AC & DC power distribution, custom parts specification, and selection. Additionally, you will design and document schematics, custom cabling, and signal and power wiring interconnects. You will be responsible for the integration & testing of the finished hardware designs. If you're up for the challenge, Apply Now! Primary Responsibilities:
  • Contribute and work under limited supervision to investigate, design, document, integrate, and qualify electrical hardware of moderate to high complexity.
  • Considered a specialist in a specific electrical engineering area or a generalist in multiple areas.
  • Technical lead of Electrical Engineering efforts for one complex program or a significant contributor on multiple simpler programs.
  • May be the technical lead of all Hardware disciplines (Electrical, Mechanical, and Designer) on a complex program.
  • Considered a primary contributor for hardware engineering requirements capture, evaluation, and derivation.
  • Ensures that electrical designs are appropriate for the defined design approach.
  • Verifies and reviews the designs and documentation of self and lower-level Engineers.
  • Primary presenter of electrical details during formal design reviews.
  • Primary contributor in cross-functional project team efforts for planning, manufacturing/build support, integration, and verification of training systems.
  • Estimate, track, report, and own the status relating to scope, schedule, and budget for assigned program work.
  • Travel as necessary to customer sites for information gathering, installation, and testing of end-product. ~10%.
Qualifications You Must Have:
  • Bachelor's degree (typically in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM)) and a minimum of 5 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations OR Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years experience OR In absence of a degree, 9 years of relevant experience is required
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Must have or be capable of obtaining a US Department of Defense (DoD) security clearance. Candidate selected will be subject to a government security investigation/reinstatement and must meet eligibility requirements
Skills You Must Have:
  • Must have experience with AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, or equivalent CAD tool to document electrical designs.
  • Must have experience designing and documenting custom cabling and interconnections.
  • Experience with designing and documenting electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience troubleshooting electrical malfunctions to determine their root causes.

  • Ability to quickly change focus between high-level concepts and low-level details.
  • Candidate with existing Secret Security Clearance or higher preferred but, not required.
