Job Summary:
The Lead Engineer provides overall project leadership including not limited to job site safety, scheduling, workforce planning, coordinating, supervising, and assisting in cost control. The job site foreman is a key participant in the relationship with the contractor, other contractors, company, and clients. A successful foreman will possess a solid work ethic, be a role model who leads by example, able motivate and mentor crew members, and takes responsibility with integrity and honesty.This position is dedicated to the NW/HSD area office in support of their operations. The NW/HSD Area Lead will work in an office setting with time traveling to different project sites for different durations based on inspection and audit needs. This position will work directly for the Regional HSE Manager and work closely with the NW/HSD management team to facilitate project and shop safety needs.

Education:
* High school diploma or GED equivalent
* Valid driver's license
Experience:
* 5 - 7 years Superintendent/Foreman experience in the construction industry
* Full understanding of high-end carpentry installation techniques and standards.
* Knowledge of construction methods and OSHA construction regulations
* Computer skills required: MS office
Skills:
* Detailed knowledge of concrete construction procedures and OSHA guidelines.
* Experience with blueprint reading, concrete finishing, and managing crews.
* Excellent communication and organizational skills.
* Strong organizational and time management skills.
* Excellent verbal communications skills and ability to foster relationships with employees at all levels within the organization.
* Strong creative problem-solving skills.
* Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and work independently as well as in team environments, often under tight deadline situations, in a dynamic, unstructured, fast paced work environment.
Responsibilities:
* Daily coordination of crews and assigns crew tasks. Ensures the right resource to do the job.
* Evaluates crew capability, training and coaching to ensure the crew meets required levels of quality. Facilitates mentoring of apprentices by Carpenters.
* Setting and maintaining work standards and outlining behavioral expectations to ensure crew morale and productivity.
* Maintains the tool and material inventory is available and complete to minimize disruption in work or schedule delay.
* Provides interpretation of plans and specifications for construction clarity.
* Communicates general work requirements into a prioritized work plan for each crew.
* Identifies, verifies, and reports any scheduling conflicts with other crews & subcontractors to the Superintendent.
* Reviews and adjusts specific workforce activities and task schedules to meet established production schedules.
* Accountable for ensuring work meets Ballard's standard of excellence and implementing work processes to improve productivity and quality.
* Accountable for ensuring that work completed meets and/or exceeds company standards.
* Responsible for implementing work processes to improve productivity and product quality
* Oversees the execution of work including quality and production by ensuring crew work to the job specifications and follow drawings
* Identifies needs for crew safety training and facilitates delivery of training. Ensures timely responses, actions, and corrections to any safety issues/needs. Participates in and monitors safety meetings .
Physical Demands / Working Environment:
* The ability to freely access all points of a construction site in wide-ranging climates and environment.
* Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
* Able to safely execute duties in and around heavy equipment/large machinery in marine dredging and marine construction job sites.
* Able to wear the personal protective equipment (PPE) required of various construction work environments (hard hats, safety glasses, personal flotation devices, respirators, etc.)
* Must be able to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 50 pounds.
* Must be capable of walking, stepping, climbing, or otherwise moving from one location on the job site to another, and normally involves physically getting onto and off barges, boats, vessels, or dock facilities of varying heights and access parameters.
* Standing, stooping, kneeling, squatting, climbing, or sitting for long periods of time.
* Climbing vertical ladders to heights of 40' - 50'.
* Working in confined spaces and elevated heights.
* Adapting to extreme temperature changes and site conditions.
Union Rates:
* $25-$45/per hour
