Your work will include power electronics system modeling and simulation, design and testing of power converters and converter submodules, testing and characterization of power electronics devices, EMI filter design for converters application. You will contribute to the development of advanced power conversion concepts as well as their implementation for application to power generation, transmission, and distribution applications.Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities:As part of a multi-disciplinary team, you will contribute to the planning, development, and transition of technologies from concept to products and/or services for GE internal and external clients.You will:Conduct power electronics research through modeling simulation, and design of power electronic circuits and controlsDevelop and test power converters devicesDevelop and test control solutions for power converters devicesParticipate with multi-disciplinary teams in the development of new power technologies and capabilities for GE's next generation product platformsInnovate in the power electronics spaceWork closely as a team member on programs involving electric machines and power systemsEffectively communicate results by preparing written reports and making presentations that describe analyses and solutionsConnect the organization to the latest technology developments and trends in industryContribute to proposals for GE businesses as well as government agenciesRequired Qualifications:Doctorate Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 2 years of professional experience developing power electronics and controls or Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with a minimum of 6 years of professional experience developing power electronics and controlsDue to the nature of the duties of this position, this role requires the individual to obtain and maintain US Government Security Clearance; prerequisite for a security clearance is U.S. citizenship.Must be willing to work out of an office located in Niskayuna, NY.Must be 18 years or older.Desired Characteristics:Familiarity with DC grid concepts, including medium and high voltage DCFamiliarity with the excitation of electric machines.Familiarity with energy storageFamiliarity with microgrids and grid integration of renewablesExpertise in simulation tools such as PLECS, SABER, MATLAB (Simulink) and othersConnections in industry and academiaRecord of publications and patentsDemonstrated successful track record of completing tasks and deliverables on schedule and on budget.Excellent written and verbal communication skills including demonstrated formal writing and presentation experience.The base pay range for this position is $98,400-$164,000. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set. This position is also eligible for a performance bonus.
