Duties

Serving as a Lead Environmental Protection Specialist GS-0028-13 makes you a valuable member of the Federal Law Enforcement Training Centers (FLETC) team and mission. This position is located within the Environmental and Safety Branch (ESB), Facilities Management Division (FMD) under the Mission and Readiness Support Directorate (MRSD) and located in Glynco, Georgia.

The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the senior program manager for the Environmental Management Program and to lead a team of Environmental Protection Specialists in the formulation of plans and policies, directing, coordinating, and evaluating a 24- hour; large-scale, complex Environmental Program. The program is formulated and administered in accordance with: Homeland Security Policy standards promulgated by Environmental Protection Agency (EPA); Department of Transportation. Executive Orders; State Environmental Regulations and all other applicable regulatory requirements issued by higher authority.

Typical duties include:

* Participates with supervisor in review of work methods and recommends improvements. Recommends

* Formulates plans (both short-term and long-term) and policy for, develops, directs, coordinates, manages and evaluates a large-scale, complex Environmental Management Program training to supervisor for team members

* Responsible for orchestrating the development and implementation of the essential portions of the

Environmental Management Program.

* Is delegated the authority to organize, coordinate, and implement assigned portions of the Environmental Management Program and assess environmental compliance as required by Department of Homeland Security.

* Teams with specialists from other disciplines (e.g. environmental specialists, safety specialists and

general engineers) in conducting these activities.

Specialized Experience: You qualify for the GS-13 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as: serving as a senior program manager for the Environmental Management Program and leading a team, directing, coordinating, and evaluating a 24- hour; large- scale, Environmental Program complex. That include various industrial operations; motorized watercraft; driver training; firearms; motor vehicle maintenance and repair facilities; hazardous materials storage and management, including explosives; large-scale construction; printing operations; warehousing; various laboratories.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
