Job Description:

* Review contract plans, specifications, and associated documents thoroughly for bidding purposes.

* Familiarize yourself with general requirements, special conditions, and proposal criteria.

* Collaborate with the Vice President of Estimating or Chief Estimator to understand proposal requirements.

* Identify significant and uncommon items within the bid documentation.

* Obtain quotations from major subcontractors and suppliers.

* Utilize HCSS software to prepare comparison sheets for precise bid analysis.

* Identify requirements for Disadvantaged/Minority/Women-Owned Business Enterprises (D/M/WBE) and prepare Government Furnished Equipment (GFE) using SmartBid.

* Craft clear write-ups and necessary documentation for Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) or Request for Proposal (RFP) submissions.

* Prepare essential documents for bid and proposal submissions.

* Set up Joint Venture manuals as necessary for Joint Venture bids.

* Develop pre-bid or green sheet estimates for review.

* Utilize HCSS software to set up bids for accurate pricing and tracking.

* Review bid items and pricing with the Vice President of Estimating or Chief Estimator.

* Establish equipment usage timelines for the project.

* Assign tasks and oversee take-off estimators to ensure accuracy and efficiency.

* Develop a project plan and determine suitable means and methods for execution.

* Maintain ongoing communication with the owner's representative throughout the bidding process.

* Understand insurance and bonding requirements and complete financial worksheets accordingly.

* Review risks and selected subcontractors/suppliers with the Vice President of Estimating or Chief Estimator.

* Finalize bid submissions with the Chief Estimator and submit them.

* Develop procurement strategies and efficiently manage subcontracts and purchase orders.

Requirements:

* Bachelor's degree in Engineering from an accredited institution, with a minimum of 10 years' experience in heavy civil construction with a general contractor.

* At least 5 years of experience in estimating roles.

* Preference for experience working on projects in the NYC area valued at $100+ million.

* Proficiency in software applications including HCSS Heavy Bid, Blue Beam, Excel, Primavera P6, and SmartBid.

* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Expected Salary: $150,000 - $220,000, depending on experience.
