The La Crosse Regional Airport provides daily air service to the 7 Rivers Region ensuring robust economic development, supporting regional employers, and providing quality leisure travel options for the region's residents.The purpose of this position is to perform unskilled to skilled maintenance and repair tasks for airport operations, equipment, facilities, and property. Maintenance and repair of equipment encompasses all equipment at the Airport. Incumbent will inspect buildings and equipment, perform preventative maintenance and repair, monitor building heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, perform electrical and plumbing repairs, and operate boilers and chiller systems. Position is also responsible for maintenance of the bagging handling system, escalators/elevators, car wash facility, landscaping to include mowing, trimming and weed control, and snow and ice removal. Must maintain knowledge of air traffic control terminology and radio procedures. Assists with maintaining security gates, fence and access control. Starting wage for this non-exempt position ranges between $30.94 - $35.43 per hour, depending on candidate qualifications. Requirements: High school diploma or equivalent, vocational/technical training in electrical, HVAC and/or mechanical systems. Three to five years of building and grounds maintenance/repair experience. Two years of HVAC experience preferred, or any combination of education and experience which provides equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities. A valid commercial driver's license (CDL) Class B required or ability to obtain CDL within 30 days on the job. Must pass and maintain a fingerprint based criminal history record check. Experience with operating and maintaining an automated car wash system is preferred but not required. Maintenance and repair of equipment encompasses all equipment at the Airport. The work is performed under the direction of Airport Operations & Maintenance Manager, Assistant Airport Director and Airport Director. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required and assigned. Inspects buildings and equipment for operability and malfunction. Performs preventative maintenance and repair tasks as needed. Monitors operation of all building heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems. Maintains building automation and building lighting systems. Adjusts thermostats. Operates boilers and chiller systems to include: Maintaining correct terminal temperature and humidity controls, provide efficient operating procedures and updating energy efficient fixtures/equipment. Performs electrical and plumbing repairs to building systems and fixtures. Maintains automatic doors to include access control units, sliding entrance doors and rotating exit door units. Monitors the operation, schedules and performs preventive maintenance on irrigation systems. Operates snow and ice removal and sanding/salting equipment. Under direction of Operations & Maintenance Supervisor remove snow & ice from airfield in accordance with airport Snow & Ice Control Plan. Coordinates snow & ice removal from land side facilities including sidewalks, walkways, parking lots and roof areas. Makes, as required, locks and keys for buildings. Repairs locks, cipher locks and access control units when needed. Maintains knowledge of air traffic control terminology and radio procedures. Maintains security gates, fence and access control system to gain access to ramps, runways, taxiways, etc. Landscaping operations to include: Mowing grass, trimming plants & trees, and removing weeds.Paints airfield markings according to specifications, and roads and parking lots. Participates in on-call rotation and responds when paged. During inclement weather, must be available for snow/ice removal operations, including after hours. Directs custodial staff in day to day operations and projects. Assigns and reviews custodial work. Updates and maintains janitorial standard operating procedures and building SDS locations. Orders, stocks and tests building safety supply materials. Maintains regular and predictable on-site attendance. Additional Tasks and Responsibilities While the following tasks are necessary for the work of the unit, they are not an essential part of the purpose of this position and may also be performed by other unit members. Checks airport field and runway for obstacles and condition. Conducts braking test on runway for maintenance needs. Calls crews for maintenance. Removes obstacles and animals detrimental to safe airport operations. Visual observation of fuel facilities for leaks and debris. Maintains operability of runway and taxiway lighting. Maintains knowledge of location for maintenance equipment, airplanes, helicopters airline equipment, rescue vehicles, etc. Maintains and repairs maintenance equipment and tools such as mowers, trimmers, fork lift and snow removal equipment. Performs custodial tasks. Sweeps and mops floors. Picks up litter and trash. Empties trash containers. Cleans restrooms. Seals pavement cracks. Operates tar kettle and associated equipment. Responds to customer service complaints and issues. Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions High school diploma or equivalent, vocational/technical training electrical, HVAC and mechanical systems. Three to five years building and grounds maintenance/repair experience. Two years HVAC experience preferred, or any combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge, skills and abilities. A valid Wisconsin commercial driver's license (CDL) class B required or ability to successfully obtain within 30 days on the job in the position.
