The impact you will have could be anything from delivering products that help a scientist discover a cure for cancer to helping a nurse care for a patient effectively because they have the right equipment.What will you do?Responsibility for the daily distribution activities, productivity and quality within assigned department (receiving, picking, packing, shipping, inventory control).Provide leadership and assistance with the daily operation of the department to meet all daily objectives.Assist employees with exceptions and problem resolution to ensure accuracy within the department.Coordinate with Supervisor to ensure that staffing levels are appropriate to meet department and launch time goals.Organize and direct workflow for the department when supervisor is unavailableProvide instructions about standard operating procedures, material handling equipment and help in resolving problems.Train temporary employees and new hires.Assist the supervisor in maintaining a safe, injury-free work environment.How will you get here?EducationHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredExperience2+ years of general warehouse experience, including work within several different warehouse departmentsLeadership experience and desire is preferredExperience handling hazardous materials (chemicals) is a plusExperience with computers and scanning equipment preferredExperience with powered industrial trucks (order pickers)Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesAbility to stand and move about the warehouse for significant periods of time (involving walking, stooping, bending, and reaching) requiredAbility to maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detailDesire to work within a team, but also able to work independently and solve problems quicklyAbility to read and write in EnglishAbility to lift, carry, and push up to 50 lbsThermo Fisher Scientific is an EEO/Affirmative Action Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, protected veteran status, disability or any other legally protected status.
