Primary Shift: 1200-2030Secondary Shift: 1400-2230GENERAL SUMMARY:Assists the section Supervisor in achieving efficient Laboratory operation by performing clinical tests and assuming assigned administrative functions. Supports Laboratory testing services by performing specimen collection and processing, quality control and maintenance functions and results reporting and verification. Coordinates Laboratory section training and inservice programs to maintain and upgrade competency at the level required by the Supervisor as procedures are changed or added. Functions as quality assurance / quality control coordinator as requested. Writes policies and procedures as requested. Assists the laboratory Supervisor in evaluating additions to the test menu and performing required validation studiesQUALIFICATIONS:1. Licensed or eligible (application pending with a limited license in effect) as a Clinical Laboratory Technologist in the State of New York. Employees with a limited license must obtain full license within New York State guidelines.2. Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology (hospital-based formal internship required) OR Bachelor's Degree in related science from an accredited college with subsequent relevant clinical laboratory experience for one year (2080 hours).3. Degree must include sufficient science and math credits to meet minimum NYSDOH requirements for a Technologist.4. ASCP, NCA or equivalent certification is highly recommended.5. Six years (12,240 hrs.) experience as a Medical Technologist in the area to be assigned as Lead Medical Technologist.
