Prepares jobs for production. Verifies that all the information is included and accurate and complies with the production order. Updates and prepares a mounting schedule that corresponds with production requirements on the printing presses. Assure proper set-ups and quality checks. Organizes work for smooth operations. Constantly follows quality and production and makes the necessary decisions to maintain maximum rates with high quality in an efficient time and manner. Assists in training new employees on how to perform quality checks, job check offs and does follow-up on production to ensure product is being produced to specifications. Assists mounters in making necessary adjustments on the equipment and oversees the set-up of all trouble orders. Capable of mounting plates, understands the established mounting processes. Capable of troubleshooting a majority of problems in plate mounting and printing. The PrePress Lead assists the Technical Manager (Printing and Converting) to implement new or revised training programs. Must have some knowledge of the ink systems and the various inks used for their application and in what capacity. Notifies the Technical Manager (Printing and Converting) of equipment and maintenance problems; advises of quality problems. Ensures safety requirements are being met and that all employees have their PPE available and are using it correctly. Must be willing to work all shifts and overtime when needed. Establish and maintain housekeeping standard that meet or exceeds the overall plant standards. Analyze employee skills in cross training programs and arrange training as required. Test skill levels on a regular basis. Recommend pay increases or promotions based on employees work performance and progress in gaining job knowledge. Provides input and feedback to Technical Manager (Printing and Converting) regarding performance issues and appraisals. Counsels employees as needed in regards to work performance, attendance, safety or other issues. Provides input to Technical Manager (Printing and Converting) for monthly meetings to keep employees informed on production goals, company policies/rules and safety. Informs shift personnel of goals and where they stand toward meeting the goals. Attends other meetings as required by Management. Make recommendations or suggestions to improve processes and procedures. Consult the Technical Manager (Printing and Converting) regarding possible shut down of equipment for repair or hazardous conditions. Maintains inventory of consumable supplies for the Mounting department and notifies manager of re-order needs. Receives new plates and artwork for work on press and notifies manager of need to re-order plates that are worn or damaged.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, write, understand and communicate in English. Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and demands. Ability to effectively communicate information to one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Accurately read a tape measure.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to perform the essential functions of the job successfully.

Must be able to pass an eye exam to distinguish color tones. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. Manual dexterity required with exposure to arm, wrist and back fatigue. The employee continuously uses their arms, hands and fingers to handle, grasp, hold, grip and squeeze. The employee routinely bends and lifts up to 50 pounds, kneels, squats, pulls, rearranges and organizes products/materials, climbs/descends stairs. The employee stands approximately 11 hours and routinely walks the production area to check production, consult with employees and offer assistance where needed.
