This job was posted by : For more information, please see: Production CookPrepared Foods Department, Belfast Community Co-opFLSA Status/ Pay Level: Nonexempt/3 Reports to: Prepared Foods ManagerThe Lead Production Cook is responsible for the smooth function of the Prepared Foods kitchen during assigned shifts, and foropening or closing the department as scheduled. Shift activities include providing support to kitchen workers, ensuring executionof daily production lists, troubleshooting equipment and product quality issues, resolving customer questions and complaints,and performing the tasks of a production cook. Production Leads are an essential part of the kitchen team, providingin-the-moment leadership in alignment with department expectations, and using on-shift experience to make recommendationsfor improvements in department operations.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSEnsures the smooth functioning of Prepared Foods kitchen throughout the shift? Provides in-the-moment supervision and support to kitchen staff by assisting with customer service and processadherence? Troubleshoots equipment and product quality issues by performing basic measures according to SOPs, and escalatingas appropriate? Resolves customer questions and complaints in a way that aligns with Co-op standards for customer service, assetprotection, and staff treatment? Ensures food safety practices are followed by all department workers throughout the shiftOpens and closes department as scheduled? Follows department and store-wide SOPs to ensure security in locking and unlocking the building, performing openingand closing walk-throughs, and communicating staffing, equipment, and supply issues appropriately? Creates Production list and outlines department workflow for scheduled shift, communicates needs to workers andadjusts as necessary? Ensures opening and closing tasks such as cleaning, sanitation, and temperature monitoring are completed fully and onschedulePerforms tasks of a Production Cook as needed throughout the shift? Models execution of recipes and adherence to department standards in food production? Models safe work behaviors? Appropriately balances supervision with hands-on production timeTrains department workers as directed? Provides training to new and advancing workers in proper behavior and techniques? Creates and updates department SOPs, training materials, and other content as directed by the department manager? Uses on-shift experience to recommend updates and/or changes to department processes and procedures asappropriate? Models use of proper communication channels to raise concerns and address issuesGENERAL EXPECTATIONS FOR ALL WORKERSEssential Functions of all Positions:? Provides exceptional customer service to internal & external customers, both in person & via phone:- Responds promptly and honestly to customer inquiries- Greets customers with a smile and friendly demeanor- Communicates respectfully? Wears any required uniform (nametag, apron, chef coat, etc.) so as to be easily identifiable tocustomers and able to work safely (hair covering, closed toed shoes, etc.)? Asks for help from co-workers and provides help to customers and co-workers as needed.? Works efficiently and safely? Takes initiative and works as a part of a team? Approaches work with a positive attitude? Collaborates with others to find solutions and accepts solutions once determined? Continues to learn and develop knowledge as it relates to the position, co-op, and industry? Demonstrates regular and dependable attendance? Follows department procedures and SOPsQUALIFICATIONS (knowledge, skills, and abilities)Preferred:? Strong knife skills, in cluding ability to execute specific cuts? Experience with basic maintenance of kitchen equipment? Experience leading a team, preferably in a commercial kitchen? Demonstrated customer service experience? Training in kitchen sanitation and food safetyMinimum:? Basic math skills (addition, subtraction, division, multiplication).? Excellent command of spoken and written English.? Effective communication skills; ability to work closely and cooperatively with others.? Ability to work effectively as a member of a team? Knowledge of basic kitchen safety, and ability to teach others? Time management skills sufficient to independently establish priorities and complete critical tasks in a timely manner?
