- Complete and adhere to all MSHA and COVIA safety training and policies.
- Perform and/or oversee the completion of equipment and area inspections as necessary and maintain a safe work environment.
- Must be able to use plant maintenance tools and safely operate all Plant equipment including manlifts, forklifts, skid steer, haul truck, dozer, excavator, and front-end loaders.
- Must be able to assist, perform, and train new employees in all Plant roles (i.e. Operator Dry Plant, Operator Load Out, Operator Wash Plant, Operator Heavy Equipment, Utility, and Mechanic)
- Oversees daily clean-up of all Plant work areas (washing, sweeping, shoveling, etc.).
- Oversee and perform as needed daily, weekly, and monthly maintenance activities (PM's) as directed.
- Foster and oversee the work management process on Site and ensure all employees are trained in and adhere to the work management process. Work with Administrative Specialist to ensure timely creation and closing of PM's and work orders.
- Oversee and assist in minor and major maintenance repair activities as directed.
- Immediately reports and reacts to all Site emergencies and reports up through management and other departments/agencies as appropriate.
- Participate in all Plant meetings (i.e. daily and scheduling, weekly work order backlog review, monthly Safety Committee, etc.) as directed.
- Communicate with contractors, customers, Covia employees, and others as directed to carry out daily Plant Operations activities.
- Communicate daily work expectations with all hourly employees at start of shifts to ensure everyone is aware of daily work needs (tool-box talks). Ensure all work activities completed by hourly employees are properly communicated back to Production Lead daily.
- Communicate necessary information between hourly employees and management as appropriate.
- Production Lead directly oversees all hourly front-line employees, filling in all work areas as needed, ensures all procedures and safety practices are followed, and acts in a supervisory role in the absence of Plant Management as directed by Plant Manager.
- Ensures all necessary permits are established and used for all daily Plant activities (i.e. Hot Work, Working from Heights, Confined Space, picking/hoisting, etc.). Communicate and work with Plant Coordinator Environmental Health & Safety to achieve these requirements.
- Perform all other duties as needed or directed.

The successful applicant will have the following Minimum Qualifications:
- Must have capacity to work in all outdoor year-round weather conditions, inside unheated or uncooled buildings, and inside machinery.
- Must be able to work from elevated worksites or man-lifts.
- Must be able to climb stairs and ladders and lift and carry 60-pound objects.
- High school diploma or GED equivalent
- Previous mechanical and electrical experience highly preferred
- Previous heavy equipment operating experience preferred
- Literacy in English, both written and spoken
- Ability to learn and operate computer programs
- Safety awareness
