Position Work Location: Onsite

As a member of the production team, you will be responsible for the production and service of food using established procedures and standardized recipes while observing the highest standards of sanitation, safety, and quality assurance. Typical duties include:

  • Performing basic culinary skills such as vegetable and fruit preparation, salad preparation, egg cookery, sandwich assembly, and cooking stocks and soups.
  • Providing high levels of customer service and accurately answering questions related to menu items.
  • Maintaining assigned areas and ensuring accuracy of funds, material, equipment, and space.
  • Following standardized recipes and procedures while observing standard holding and serving times.
  • Coordinating efforts of others in accomplishing tasks and assisting subordinates.
  • Practicing safe food handling procedures to reduce/prevent foodborne illness.
  • Cleaning and sanitizing all pots, pans, utensils, and work areas.
  • Receiving, storing, and signing for deliveries while maintaining clean storage areas.
  • Operating kitchen equipment correctly and safely, performing basic maintenance, and reporting malfunctions.
  • Observing all policies, procedures, and regulations of the kitchen, department, and University.
  • Minimum Requirements:

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English; Spanish and/or Portuguese preferred.
  • Basic math skills for converting recipes and taking inventory.
  • One-year experience as a Cook's Helper or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills in prioritizing and monitoring tasks.
  • Valid driver's license and safe driving record.
  • Positive customer relation skills and a willingness to support a diverse and inclusive campus community.
  • Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to operate kitchen equipment safely.
  • Ability to lift or move products and supplies up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to tolerate heat and cold temperatures.
