Job SummaryAssists the Security Supervisor in the oversight of day-to-day operations of the Security Department. Job DescriptionEssential Functions:
- Assists ambulance crews upon request of Emergency Department staff and as priorities permit, as observed by daily log documentation.
- Assists with the transport of deceased patients and supervises Security Staff to be certain bodies and body parts are not disturbed or tampered with. Conducts this with respect for the deceased. Reviewed by Manager through exception reports.
- Assists with inservice training for new Hospital employees at monthly Mandatory Inservices and General Orientation.
- Assists with patient movement and control upon request by nursing staff using established procedures.
- Assures, through monitoring performance standards, acceptability of security functions so that safe and secure techniques are utilized by staff performing duties. Reviewed by Manager through exception reports and by PI reports.
- Prepares and reviews incident reports, maintenance work requests, hazard reports, ticket information, daily logs, etc. Follows up on issues in a timely manner. Observed by Manager through review of information.
- Performs spot checks of each shift when warranted or as directed by Manager.
- Performs incident investigation as situations occur with follow-up to appropriate authorities/departments as observed by supervisor and in conjunction with Hospital policies and procedures.
- Assists supervisor with the development of staff schedules.
- Provides input to supervisor regarding staff performance.
- All other duties as assigned.
Additional RequirementsRequired:Education - High School Diploma/GED Equivalent in General StudiesCertifications - Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification - American Heart Association (AHA) - Within 60 days of hire or transfer; Driver's License - State; Rapid City Security License - City of Rapid City.Regarding BLS certification: The department you are applying to may require BLS certification sooner than 60 days post transfer/hire. The hiring manager will discuss this with you if it is applicable.Preferred:Experience - 1+ years of Supervisor Experience; 3+ years of Healthcare Experience; 3+ years of Security/Safety ExperiencePhysical Requirements: Very Heavy work - exerting over 25 pounds of force constantly (67-100% of the time), and/or more than 50 pounds frequently (34-66% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force occassionally (up to 33% of the time), and/or more than 100 pounds of force seldomly to move objects. Possible exposure to blood, bodily fluids, or tissues. Requires the ability to work designated shift lengths (including 8 and 12 hours), which may include night shifts or occasional irregular hours.
