Overview and Responsibilities: Paramount's Advanced Advertising has been leading the charge in data and data science for nearly a decade. Our cutting-edge tools and systems empower advertisers by seamlessly integrating their campaigns with our award-winning programming, driving our business. We're also scaling! As we grow, we're enhancing our systems to be more robust and scalable. We also believe in the power of teamwork, spending most of our time in always-on video rooms to facilitate face-to-face interaction and seamless collaboration. We work closely with our product, data science, operations, and sales teams to deliver top-notch software. At Paramount, we know that our best work is done together, not alone.
About this role As a Lead Software Engineer in Advanced Advertising, you'll be the driving force behind larger, more ambiguous projects, guiding them from start to completion. You'll take a leadership role in our engineering team, mentoring less experienced engineers, and help them navigate uncertainty and complex technical challenges. Your experience with our tech stack enables you to own key systems and influence their evolution. In addition to coding and design, you'll spend more time coordinating with stakeholders and ensuring that our team's technical direction aligns with broader business goals. You'll facilitate a self-organizing team environment, where collaboration and clear communication lead to better software. This role is ideal for an experienced engineer who thrives in ambiguity, makes autonomous decisions, and ensures both team and individual success. You'll not only contribute technically but also shape how the team approaches problems, guiding toward scalable and efficient solutions.
About you You're a generalist engineer who has a passion for solving human problems. You've worked with large and sometimes complex systems that would overwhelm your average person, but you embrace the challenge. You love collaborating with other engineers and interfacing with stakeholders to figure out what the best solution to a problem might be. You believe that the simplest solution to a problem is usually the best one and you live by principles like YAGNI-'you ain't gonna need it'.
