Job Description – Lead Teacher for Read Write Academy

About the Job

Read Write Learning Center is seeking a dedicated Teacher for our Read Write Academy at our Montgomery, AL location. Read Write Academy is an alternative to traditional school: it is a small group of 4 students with learning difference that meets from 9-2:30 pm Monday-Thursday. In this role, you would prepare and deliver math, writing, social studies, and science instruction to a small group, in addition to dyslexia therapy to an individual student. As Lead Teacher you would be responsible for overseeing any other teachers working with Academy students, communicating with parents, planning special events/field trips, and generally working to make sure our students have a transformative school year!

We are seeking a teacher who is passionate about empowering struggling readers, and ready to make a difference in the lives of our students. As part of our dynamic team, you will provide one-on-one reading intervention, build rapport and strong working relationships with your students, provide tailored support, and foster a nurturing learning environment.

We use a multi-sensory Orton-Gillingham approach to teaching to ensure that every student reaches their full potential. Specialized training will be provided for all tutors, no previous training in dyslexia required, but previous teaching experience in areas of special education or intervention is highly preferred.

• Hours/Pay:
• Part-time 16 hours per week.
• Immediate hire.
• Monday-Thursday 9:00 am - 1:00 pm
• Pay $25-$30/hour.

• Bachelor's (Required)
• Alabama Teaching Certificate
