- Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate educational program for young children birth-6 years
- Assess children's learning and plan curriculum based on individual and group needs and interests
- Work with families in a culturally sensitive manner to build a family-inclusive program
- Work consistently on all requirements for Missouri state licensing and NAEYC accreditation
- Document children's learning through portfolios and informational displays
- Maintain a safe and healthy learning environment
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Elementary or Early Childhood Special Education or Bachelor's degree in Child Development or Early Childhood Education or Bachelor's degree in another field with 36 or more higher education credits in early childhood education, elementary education, special education, or child development.
- Experience teaching children aged 6 weeks to 6 years
- Experience implementing NAEYC developmentally appropriate practices
- Knowledge of techniques used to assess children's development including developing portfolios
- Knowledge of Missouri and NAEYC program accreditation
- Familiarity with current trends in early childhood education including Creative Curriculum, Reggio Emilia, the Project Approach, and emergent curriculum
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to work well as a member of a team
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to interact effectively with young children and families, university students, faculty, staff and public
- Demonstrated experience and understanding of customer service
