04th September, 2024JMS Solutions has recently partnered with a GROWING manufacturing company in Buffalo, NY who is hiring for a 2nd Shift LEAD TECHNICIAN! The successful employee in this role will be responsible for leading and training members of the Molding staff including but not limited to, Injection Mold Machine Operators and Machine Set Up Technicians. Focuses attention to resolving processing inefficiencies, quality related issues, and developing technical abilities in reporting staff by performing the following duties. This is a full time, direct hire, onsite position. 2nd shift hours are typically 2PM-10PM - Schedule to be flexible to fulfil training needs on all shifts. Pay: $28.00 - $34.00 per hour DOE - must have Injection Mold Experience! ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide support to the Injection Molding Supervisor in addressing processing related problems in the Molding Department.
  • Support Molding Technicians with questions, problems as needed.
  • Communicate with departmental supervisors/managers on correction of processing inefficiencies and quality related issues. Complete process studies on any jobs identified by Quality Control or management as needed.
  • Lead process improvement activities to address tooling issues that have been shown to cause chronic production related issues, improve any set up / changeover inefficiencies.
  • Lead Injection Mold Machine Operators and Machine Set Up Technicians group monthly meetings to convey departmental performance metrics, opportunities for improvement.
  • Compile and record mold change supporting data submitted daily.
  • Create, update, and maintain a formal training program to ensure technical capabilities are consistent and adequate throughout department.
  • Review any slow cycling machines for proper correction, assist with maintaining system cycle standards.
  • Assist with maintaining the Kanban inventory and tech. supplies.
  • Provide back up support to shift leads, contribute to probationary and annual performance reviews. Perform lock out / tag out audits
  • Qualify new tooling with an optimum cycle for repeatability as needed, following the MEO process.
  • Coordinates activities within the assigned work group to provide support to the Molding department.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable law.
  • Responsibilities include assisting with interviewing, hiring, and training employees, planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance, rewarding, and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Required Skills:
  • Bachelor's degree from college or university; or
  • 2 + years experience in a Lead or or similar
  • 3+ years experience within an injection mold manufacturing environment
  • Must successfully complete any/all in-house molding training certifications.
