Job Description:
Overview: A Lead Teacher (LE3) at a LE3 Academy is responsible for developing the curriculum while managing the day-to-day operational activities of the classroom. LTs must understand children's cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development in order to ensure a safe and stimulating environment where children are actively engaged and encouraged to succeed. The LT must be skilled in communicating with both children and adults in order to meet the needs of the children, effectively guide teacher assistants, and resolve parental concerns.Qualifications: The LT must have the following education, experience, and certification requirements:
  • A bachelor's degree in Education or a related field OR enrolled in an education program that leads to a bachelor's degree with 9 credits in education completed, AND
  • One year of experience working in childcare, with children, and/or in an educational setting, with Customer service and/or previous work experiences
Job Responsibility: In addition to the following duties and responsibilities, all LTs are expected to perform other reasonable duties or tasks as assigned by the director
  • Curriculum Expectations: work closely with Academy teachers and the director to ensure there is a clear set of lessons and themes being followed in the classrooms
    • Lessons should be scaffolded to ensure that students are meeting age-appropriate milestones throughout the course of the program
    • Lessons should follow the LE3 guidelines and be shared over the KT app
    • *Depending on the classroom: The LT is expected to support all potty-training efforts
  • Program/Daily Responsibilities:
    • Create and follow a daily schedule that is active, engaging, and robust
    • Ensure there are safe transitions, options, and differentiated options for planned lessons
    • Delegates tasks to the assistant teacher to ensure that all children are supervised, engaged, and participating
  • Administrative Responsibilities: LTs should demonstrate excellent communication skills and switch communication strategies effectively depending on the audience
    • Communicates daily with parents via our app.
    • Daily health checks, feeding, and diapering schedules, along with photos should be posted in the app daily
      • The LT should complete or delegate to an Assistant Teacher
    • During the school year program, the LT must determine when/if the students need guardian conferences and/or intervention from an administrator

Training Expectations: There is mandatory training that must be completed at hiring and on an annual basis in order to maintain a position with LE3. All training completed outside of working hours will be paid for by LE3 (time and cost of course).Create and maintain an accurate and up-to-date profile in The Aspire Registry. It documents your education, training, and experience. Hours: all LTs are required to be full-time, and there is minimal flexibility in the time of day the lead works as we follow an academic schedule: Working Conditions: Most buildings cover the following working conditions:
  • Exposures encountered: many LE3 programs have varying noise levels depending on the day, time of year, and activity. Outside of noise level, most sense exposures are common. There are times in which lessons/crafts require extra hands and supervision due to being messy
  • Essential physical requirements are not limited to but include walking, running, climbing stairs and playground structures, squatting/sitting on the floor, and standing for a minimum of five hours
  • Regularly uses fingers to feel, type, and assist using fine motor skills to tie shoes, zip coats, etc.
  • Regularly required to communicate verbally and in writing, required to switch communication styles based on audience
  • Physical effort/lifting/carrying: up to 20 pounds
