Lead Traffic Engineer: Irvine, CA A Talascend client is seeking an experienced Lead Traffic Engineer for a direct hire role based in Irvine, California. Job Summary: The Senior Traffic Engineer applies extensive and diversified knowledge in engineering, using advanced techniques to adapt theories and practices. This role involves working on major projects or multiple moderate-scope projects with complex features. Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- CAD Design: Create detailed drawings, plans, and layouts for rail infrastructure using Computer-Aided Design (CAD) software.
- Technical Expertise: Apply rail design principles to tackle complex engineering challenges, including construction cost estimates and project specifications.
- Technical Support: Collaborate with rail engineers to ensure quality standards in design.
- Data Analysis: Gather and analyze project data.
- Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless project execution.
- Quality Assurance: Engage in quality control activities to ensure error-free designs.
- Mentorship: Provide guidance and support to junior engineers and designers.
- Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
Qualifications: Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
- Proficient in oral and written communication.
- Experience with traffic analysis software (e.g., SYNCHRO).
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Experience or interest in rail industry, including traffic signal design for grade crossings.
- Past coordination with freight railroad or transit agencies.
- CAD proficiency for producing engineering drawings.
Required Education and Experience:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering from an ABET/EAC accredited program.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- Master's Degree or equivalent.
- 10+ years of prior experience.
- Commitment to life-long learning to stay updated on contemporary issues.
Additional Qualifications, Certifications, etc.:
- Professional Engineer (PE).
- Traffic Engineering (TE) certification and involvement in professional organizations.
- Membership in a professional practice organization, national board member or officer, or national technical/policy committee member.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
- Oversee the work of other consultants.
- Supervise a team of engineers and technicians.
- Plan, schedule, or coordinate the preparation of documents or activities for multiple major projects or an entire program.
- Review operational procedures to ensure compliance with applicable policies and performance measures.
