Lead Utility Technician - Water UtilitiesLocationHuman ResourcesWork StatusFull TimeTHIS POSITION IS OPEN UNTIL CLOSEDSALARY: $17.46 - 26.18 Hourly USDJOB SUMMARY:Undergeneral supervision, performs repairs and preventative of all water andwastewater infrastructure. This includes, but is not limited to, water mains,water services, water taps, fire hydrants, valves, sewer mains, sewer services,manholes, and cleanouts. Assists Water / Wastewater Crew Chief in the trainingand development of Apprentice Utility Technicians.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Ability to follow written and oral directions.Ability to use/operate various hand and power tools used in the repair and maintenance of the water and wastewater systems.Ability to safely operate heavy equipment which includes, but is not limited to, front end loader, tractor/backhoe, tandem axle dump truck.Ability to work on call schedule as assigned to respond to afterhours emergencies.Ability to perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment.OTHER JOB FUNCTIONS:
Ability to respond to afterhours emergencies as needed when not on call.Ability to positively represent the City of Arlington and the Water Department in all interactions with others.Ability to perform routine repairs without supervisionMINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Ability to perform various physical movements including but not limited to carrying, crawling, dragging, lifting, bending, squatting, standing, twisting body, pulling, and/or pushing.
- Ability to work in an outdoor environment subject to dust and fumes. Exposure to electrical, mechanical, and/or explosive hazards is also common.
- Ability to work in inclement weather and extreme temperatures.
- Ability to lift or exert forces equivalent up to 90 lbs.
- Ability to work flexible hours as needed to respond to emergency situations.
- Ability to use a variety of hand-held or power tools
Qualifying Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED, plus3-years related experience is required. Ability to obtain a Texas Class A CDL with Tanker Endorsement and a Class C Water Distribution or Class IIIWastewater Collections License with the first 6 months of employment. Pre-employment testing includes: Criminal Background, Drug and Alcohol,Physical and Motor Vehicle Check.
