Job Description:
$23.00The Lead Worker- Utility is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, evaluation, and supervision of subordinate staff during special events occurring under the DOE contract (i.e. snow emergencies, large spills, or special conference set-up). Plans, assigns, and directs work to be done in accordance with contract requirements, Didlake's policies and procedures, and applicable laws.Cleans and keeps in an orderly condition either directly or through subordinate staff factory working areas and washrooms, or premises of an office, apartment house, or commercial or other establishments. Duties involve a combination of the following:
  • Respond to the following:
  • All liquid spills in a timely manner to prevent accidents that may be caused by this incident.
  • Adhering to all requests from customers within the DOE Complex such as emptying trash containers for tenants leaving the complex.
  • Cleans recycle rooms and service elevators daily, including sweeping and scrubbing the area.
  • Removes carpet spots using carpet machine and rug spot removers in concert with DOE Safety standards.
  • Removes trash and waste materials in cubical areas and suite areas as needed or when other Didlake employees are absent.
  • Services restrooms when the person responsible is unavailable or as needed.
  • Receives count and stores supplies ordered by supervisor(s) for daily use at the DOE complex.
  • Cleaning closets and storage areas that he services and/or uses daily.
  • Informs supervisors of problems, concerns, and safety issues regarding co-workers.
  • Assures safety of employees by monitoring proper use of equipment and adherence to safety policies.
  • Fosters an atmosphere that promotes Human Rights for all clients and ensures incident reports and awareness of responsibilities of all personnel regarding Human Rights matters.
  • Checks trash, restroom, and stairwell crews when performing their daily task at the DOE complex.
  • Transports all trash and waste materials to disposal areas located at either end of the DOE complex on the Lower Level.
  • Operates power equipment such as two-stage snow blowers and a John Deere skid-loader/snowplow.
  • Responsible for fostering a positive team spirit and producing quality work.
  • Responsible for appropriate conduct and/or demeanor as dictated by Didlake policy and procedure.
  • Completes required paperwork and/or documentation.
  • Acts as a good steward of employer and government resources.
  • Responsible for following safety standards and guidelines in the proper use of the equipment and other activities.
  • During inclement weather, provide proper upkeep by removing snow from walkways, building entrances, dock ramps, and spread snow/ice melting chemicals.
  • Completes and maintains all required Didlake training.

  • HS Diploma/GED or any combination of experience/education to equal graduation from the 12th grade.
Skills and Abilities:
  • Possess the ability to pass a background check.
  • One (1) year recent, relevant experience in commercial custodial or maintenance services.
  • Some knowledge of equipment and chemicals used, i.e. scrubbers, Billy Goat blowers, vacuums, snowblowers, and EZ-Go.
  • Must have verbal and written communication adequate to read simple instructions, recognize the difference between words and numbers, print and speak simple sentences; the ability to remind and train staff of standard operating procedures and safe operation of equipment.
  • Ability to apply good judgment in fulfilling responsibilities.
  • Ability to interact effectively and positively with employees with disabilities required.
  • Some knowledge of general cleaning products and equipment is required.
  • Must possess and demonstrate high initiative, adaptability, reliability, flexibility, and convey a positive team member attitude.
