ALLETE Clean Energy, headquartered in Duluth MN (ACE) specializes in developing and managing clean and renewable energy projects. This position is based at our Condon wind farm, located in the Northcentral Oregon, just outside the City of Condon. For those looking for a rural setting, this wind farm is snuggled into the corner where the John Day River flows into the Columbia River, offering an abundance of diverse water and other outdoor activities. ACE operates 83 Mitsubishi 600 wind turbines on this site.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Lead, plan, and coordinate work activities and supervise crew in the field for the assigned wind turbine project site(s) or work areas efficiently.
+ Instruct O&M service provider on WTG maintenance and repair.
+ Ensure safe, reliable operation of substation by assisting with high-voltage system maintenance and repair including switching and operating equipment such as pad-mount transformers.
+ Operate telehandler to load and unload heavy components.
+ Works with management to ensure business objectives are met.
+ Oversees facility operations during normal and emergency conditions in accordance with operating procedures to maintain a safe and efficient operation.
+ Develop and implement safety sensitive procedures for managing day-to-day operations and maintenance that support continuous improvement, while minimizing occupational hazards.
+ Support the preparation of plans, reports and other documentation required by/for management, regulatory authorities and other agencies to ensure compliance with all federal and state environmental, health and safety rules and regulations, permitting, and operational requirements.
+ Develop and maintain positive working relationships and interact effectively with management, peers, subordinate personnel, landowners, external contractors, government authorities, other stakeholders, and the public.
+ Assure compliance with applicable federal, state, and company safety rules environmental permits, regulations, and practices.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
+ High School diploma or equivalent required, preference may be given to applicants that have completed a wind technician training program.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
+ Internal candidates must have successfully completed all training, education courses and/or skill level testing required for Wind Technician III level work.
+ External candidates must have six years or more technical wind industry experience, OR in absence of technical wind industry experience, ten years or more experience working with hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical maintenance.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
+ This position will report regularly in person to Condon, OR.
+ Must possess and maintain valid drivers license.
+ Understand and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, blueprints, diagrams, and schematics.
+ The ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
+ Must be able to meet the typical physical/mental/environmental demands of the position:
+ This is a very physically active job done outdoors in all types of weather conditions. You will need to be able to climb, carry up to 100 pounds, and at times work in cramped positions
+ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts, high, precarious places, particulate matter, loud noise levels, risk of electrical shock and occasionally exposed to hazardous chemicals.
+ Work with limited supervision in mechanical and electrical oriented situations, given proper instructions.
+ This position may be subject to assessment of skills, job match and/or aptitude.
The minimum starting hourly wage is $37.50. Compensation is commensurate with experience, education, skillset, licensure, business need, and market conditions.
