Job Description: The Barnhill Leadership and Development (L&D) Coordinator is a member of the Barnhill L&D team working directly with the VP L&D. This position will help develop and present leadership and development courses to Barnhill employees. Additionally, they will support all L&D efforts by providing input and action on, logistical, planning, training documentation and coordination support with executive assistant duties to facilitate L&D's effort to invest in our people to ignite their potential, enhance their wellbeing and generate high performance results-advancing the BCC legacy! Job Duties & Responsibilities:
  • In support of all Essential Functions-learn and teach Barnhill values and culture as a leader to help us grow great Barnhill leaders. One day per month will be spent in the field working with Barnhill teams (Field and Office) outside of Rocky Mount office learning Barnhill people and culture.
  • Creates and designs L&D training courseware for all of Barnhill and presents leadership training classes as required-platform instructor.
  • Responsible for input and oversite of all meetings, attendance, logistics set-up and break-down. This includes coordination with Barnhill IT and briefers for all online and in-person meeting audio and video requirements.
  • Input on, oversite and updating of L&D VBL Data Base to ensure our ability to track all employee development and training. Required to learn, operate, implement and teach use of e-learning and survey platforms. Current platforms are Workday's (HRIS) Learning and Peakon modules for L&D.
  • Responsible for creation and execution of our L&D VBL Insights program and our L&D VBL Recognition and Awards program (Values in Action AwardsVAA). Requirement to get Insights certified through Barnhill L&D and debrief Barnhill Insights assessments.
  • Collaborate in support of video production and editing our VBL growth across Barnhill-requirement to use Learning module in Workday.
  • Creates new approaches, policies, and procedures to continually improve efficiency and effectiveness of L&D at Barnhill.
  • Independent, effective, and efficient scheduling for all VBL Cohort/Group meetings to ensure a balance of training and education vs work schedule. This includes capturing all class attendance/completion and feedback/lessons learned for our training and development classes-leads our continuous improvement effort in this area.
Minimum Qualifications & Training:
  • Bachelor's degree required or Construction Background and Leading People Experience.
  • Must pass pre-employment drug screen and criminal background check.
  • Complete orientation and safety training.
  • Strict adherence to safety requirements and procedures as outlined in Barnhill's Employee Handbook.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and assist co-workers or supervisors with other duties as required.
  • NC Driver License.

Business/Technical Knowledge: Computer Skills:
  • Extensive experience in Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Spectrum background desired

  • Strong communication skills including oral, written, listening, and presentation experience

Environment or Physical Working Conditions:
  • Ability to operate a motor vehicle over long distances/time periods
  • Ability to traverse uneven/broken ground at construction sites and asphalt plants (plowed ground, trenches, unfinished slopes, stairs, etc.)
  • Ability to work with frequent exposure to dirty and dusty conditions
  • Ability to work in the extremes of weather
  • Ability to carry up to 35 pounds (working with Barnhill crews, orientation supplies, forms, booklets, information packets, signage, merchandise, etc.)
  • Ability to work in confined spaces (small storage rooms)
  • Work Schedule: Normal hours 8am to 5pm; due to nature of our construction work, early and extended hours to include weekends may be required.
