Guide campers on leadership track through CIT programs, PA programs, and PAIT programs participating in either day or overnight camp. Also assisting counselors with developing leadership skills. This seasonal full-time position is needed at Camp Alice Chester in East Troy, WI from May 21, 2025, through July 29, 2025.RequirementsWhat You'll Do
- Direct and supervise camp leadership activities, Counselor-in-Training campers (CITs), Program Aides (PAs), Program Aides in Training (PAITs), and staff.
- Coordinate meals in the dining hall.
- Train, supervise, and support kitchen support staff.
- Supervise, support, and advise CITs, PAs and PAITs.
- Provide administrative support and oversight to overall camp functions.
- Prepare and conduct pre-camp and in-service staff trainings.
- Teach staff their responsibilities and activities during staff training, including: How to work with teens in our leadership programs, Effective leadership skills, Teambuilding and debriefing.
- Oversee counselors who are assigned CITs, PAs, and PAITs alongside Counselor Coordinator or Day Camp Coordinator.
- Ensure staff and leadership campers wellbeing by monitoring that they get enough rest, time and days off, that recreational activities are available to them, and that individual needs are met.
- Implement routines, schedules, and procedures for leadership activities.
- Provide support to Counselor Coordinator in the supervision, support, and evaluation of camp counselors.
- Oversee set-up of camper units and assist with initial and end-of-season inventories and storage of equipment for safety.
- Submit or place orders for equipment and /or supplies when necessary, ensuring timely arrival of materials.
- Ensure evaluations are conducted for all participants in the leadership program.
- Be responsible for the welfare and monitor the adjustment of campers to camp, coaching counselors to handle any problems that arise.
- Interpret, enforce and teach state, American Camp Association, and Girl Scouts Safety Activity Checkpoints and standards.
- Maintain knowledge of state codes and ACA standards within the kitchen and that they are properly implemented.
- Prepare, review and submit records and requested reports on time.
- Prepare an evaluation and summary of current season including inventories, staff evaluations, camper reports and recommendations for the following season.
- Comprehend, monitor and be willing to assist with crisis management plan and overall safety guidelines, including emergency procedures.??
- Assist with opening, closing, and daily cleaning of Camp.
- Other duties as assigned.
Who You Are & Keys To Success
- At least 21 years of age.
- Experience and/or education in camp/recreational programming preferred.
- Ability to schedule and supervise staff.
- Ability to work and collaborate with peers.
- Ability to accept guidance and supervision.
- Ability to creatively plan, originate, organize, and carry out daily and special programs.
- Good driving record and valid driver's license for at least one year. Valid driver's license, compliance with the council's policy of automobile insurance limits, and a driving record that meets the requirements for coverage of the council's business auto insurance carrier.
- Comfort and ability to live, sleep, and work in a rustic outdoor environment with irregular hours.
- Physical demands and work environment regularly requires the employee to walk, hike, and work outdoors in wooded areas and?as well as?inclement?weather and extreme temperatures.
- Ability to lift 40lbs.
- Commitment to creating and maintaining a positive, fun, and professional environment.
- Effectively and respectfully communicate instructions, issues, and needs with campers, staff, and supervisors including with people across cultures, ranges of ability, genders, ethnicities, and races.
- Willingness to subscribe to the philosophy of the Girl Scout program and enroll as a Girl Scout member.
- Willingness to be an active respectful member of camp and all camp activities while upholding Girl Scout traditions.
- Must have background check completed by GSWISE.
