Description Weyerhaeuser Company is seeking recent college graduates for a full-time entry level Leadership Development Professional (LDP) opportunity to join our Elkin Oriented Strand Board Mill (OSB) located in Elkin, North Carolina. Elkin OSB is located in the Foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, in Surry and Wilkes Counties in northwestern North Carolina. It is situated central to University of North Carolina, Appalachian State, Wake Forest, and NC State Universities. The mill is located 1 hour west of Winston-Salem, 1 hour east of Boone, 90 minutes north of Charlotte, and 30 minutes south of the Virginia/North Carolina state line. Elkin is a historical town with artisanal traditions, hiking, and wine tasting. In this role, you will work under close guidance with assigned mentors. You will be accountable for growing and strengthening your leadership skills, general business understanding of manufacturing processes, operations of a Wood Products mill, and other major function areas. This role includes a detailed 12-month development plan with hands-on learning, operational rotations, and successful completion of site project(s). The successful individual will be assigned to the next role once development is successfully completed and a suitable assignment is identified that meets business needs. Key Activities: Working safely in a manufacturing environment Systematically identify and implement improvement initiatives Perform mill-wide studies/trials Provide support in the development of standard operating procedures Troubleshoot and resolve quality and production issues Train employees on a structured approach to problem solving Maintain calibration of process equipment to assure standards are met Additional Qualifications/Responsibilities Qualifications Bachelor's degree (or higher) in Wood Science, Engineering or related field OR on track to receive a Bachelor's degree (or higher) by June 2025. We are looking for someone who is eager to learn about and master wood products production processes regardless of years of experience. 3-5 years of relevant work experience helpful in development process. Ability to deliver workable, value-added solutions to solve real manufacturing problems. You're able to communicate issues and results to both technical and non-technical audiences. You are a collaborative team player. You have a high level of initiative and the ability to excel with minimum supervision. You can easily adjust to multiple demands, shifting work priorities, ambiguity, adversity and change. You have a working knowledge of quality control, statistics, and optimization concepts. You are able to develop partnerships and collaborate as a team. You are able and willing to travel within the US. Compensation: This role is eligible for our annual merit-increase program, and we are targeting a salary range of $56,500 to $84,800 based on your level of skills, qualifications and experience. You will also be eligible for our Annual Incentive Program, which offers a cash bonus targeting 5% of base pay. Potential plan funding may range from zero to two times that target.
