Leadership Giving OfficerJob no: 493817 Work type: Staff Full-Time (Hybrid) Location: Hybrid - South Hadley, MA, South Hadley, MA Categories: Advancement/ Alumnae AffairsPosition Type: Staff Full-Time (Hybrid)Hours per week: 37.5 Weeks per year: 52Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.; requires travel Salary Range: $90,000-$111,728Department Summary & Job Purpose:The Leadership Giving Officer (LGO) is an entry-level member of the College's frontline Leadership Giving staff. This hybrid position provides an opportunity for either a career transition into fundraising or an experienced fundraiser in another field to develop skills in Leadership Giving and make immediate contributions. This fundraising professional will manage a portfolio of 150-175 Mount Holyoke College alum, parents, and prospective donors and will be responsible for designing and implementing identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies. The LGO will travel frequently to engage these key members of the Mount Holyoke College community in conversations leading to increased expendable commitments and six-figure (and potentially seven-figure) gifts. Reporting to the Director of Leadership Giving, the LGO will be an integral member of the College's Leadership Giving team.This individual will play a vital role in raising leadership-level expendable and endowment gifts in support of Mount Holyoke College's upcoming campaign. The LGO will have the opportunity to develop and be mentored in their skill as a major gift fundraiser.Core Job Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Manage a portfolio of 150 - 175 alum or parent donors.
  • Strategize with the Director of Leadership Giving on designing and implementing their identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship strategies.
  • Frequent travel to engage key Mount Holyoke College community members within an average range of 10 to 15 face-to-face visits per month.
  • Secure leadership Mount Holyoke Fund (annual gifts) and other expendable gifts in addition to endowed gift discussions. -
  • Grow caseload through qualification of rated prospects.
  • Meet and exceed annual metrics goals.
  • Daily interaction with College constituents, including colleagues and donors, and occasional interaction with the Board of Trustees, president, faculty, senior staff, and students.
  • 5% of this position: Performs other duties/functions as requested.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Two years experience working in a fundraising environment or applicable and relevant experience in a related field.
  • Desire to develop skills as a major gift fundraiser.
  • Demonstrated ability to cultivate and advance relationships strategically and proactively.
  • An unassailable sense of judgment and integrity.
  • Personal capacity to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to travel 35-50% of the time to different areas of the country.
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and written and verbal communication skills.
  • Night and weekend work is occasionally required.
Preferred Qualifications: License/Certifications: Compliance Requirements: Physical Demands: Visual - normal concentration; repetitive motions include hands, wrists, and fingers; lift, carry, push, and pull 10 lbs.Decision Making:
  • The Leadership Giving Officer consults with the Senior Associate Director to organize their own workflow in accordance with the priorities of donor cultivation and solicitation.
Supervision Exercised/Received:
  • Reports to the Senior Associate Director of Leadership Giving. Moderate supervision and training received from the supervisor. The Leadership Giving Officer does not supervise other personnel.
Working Conditions:
  • The employee is not substantially exposed to adverse environmental conditions (such as in typical office or administrative work).
