Job Title: Assistant Director, Learning and Development

Location: Virginia Beach, VA - Relocation supported

Reports to: Director of Human Resources

Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and visionary Assistant Director of Learning and Development to lead and implement strategic initiatives within our manufacturing company. This role will be responsible for overseeing the development, execution, and evaluation of learning programs that enhance the skills and capabilities of our workforce. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Learning Management Systems (LMS), instructional design, and corporate training with an innovative approach to human capital development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • LMS Management: Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive LMS, incorporating Instructor-Led Training (ILT), Instructor-Led Virtual Training (ILVT), and E-Learning modalities. Ensure that programs align with best practices, including Kirkpatricks evaluation model and Blooms taxonomy.
  • Instructional Design: Lead the conceptual development of instructional design projects, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the effective delivery of content across various learning platforms.
  • Leadership & Team Management: Provide leadership to the L&D team, guiding them to successfully execute training programs and ensuring they meet organizational objectives.
  • Strategic Vision: Work closely with senior leadership to design and implement an L&D strategy that aligns with the company's goals, fostering a culture of continuous learning and development.
  • Training Program Development: Oversee the design, development, and delivery of learning solutions tailored to meet the specific needs of our manufacturing workforce, ensuring programs focus on skill enhancement and career growth.
  • Evaluation & Improvement: Utilize data-driven approaches to measure the effectiveness of training programs, using frameworks such as Kirkpatrick's levels of evaluation to continuously improve learning initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Collaborate with department heads and senior executives to identify organizational learning needs and ensure the L&D strategy is aligned with overall business goals.

Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in corporate training, university teaching, or human resources with a focus on human capital development.
  • Proven experience in developing and managing Learning Management Systems (LMS) and integrating ILT, ILVT, and E-Learning.
  • Demonstrated understanding of instructional design concepts and leadership in executing training programs.
  • Familiarity with key learning models, such as Kirkpatrick's evaluation model and Bloom's taxonomy.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and project management skills.
  • Visionary thinker with the ability to innovate and implement effective learning strategies.
