The Job Details: The Leave of Absence Specialist works closely with the Benefits Manager, Benefit Specialist and USCS management team. This individual will consistently contribute to USCS' key human resource areas, including FMLA, ADA, and insurance. Focuses on continuous improvement to offer USCS employees an organization that cares and strives to be best in class. Duties and Responsibilities include the following:
  • Coordinate and administer Company Leaves of Absences in conjunction with third-party administrator including FMLA, ADA, Military, Jury Duty, Bereavement and Company leaves.
  • Serve as central point of contact for the Leave of Absence process ensuring company policies and procedures are being followed and compliant with Federal and State Laws.
  • Process, track and organize Leave of Absence approvals and denials as received from third party administrator and communicate with area HR Managers.
  • Provide leave of absence guidance and direction to employees, HR Managers and Payroll.
  • Subject matter expert for all ADA cases; evaluate and make decisions on accommodation requests in compliance with company policy and regulations under the ADA.
  • Monitor leave of absence and disability requests through Aetna Workability website.
  • Communicate with payroll department regarding short term disability approvals and payment in coordination with company policy.
  • Communicate with HR Managers to coordinate return to work process including accommodation requests and leave expirations.
  • Work closely with Risk Manager to monitor Workers' Compensation leaves in coordination with FMLA.
  • Serve as internal contact for escalated claim issues/inquiries and seek timely resolution.
  • Maintain and update Kronos time keeping system and Lawson payroll records for approved leaves.
  • Ensure the employee portion of benefit premiums are collected through payroll withholdings or direct billing to employee while on paid leave of absence.
  • Communicate effectively with employees regarding STD and LTD benefits; process benefit changes and monitor disability cases to ensure maximum benefit exhaustion is communicated to employee.
  • Assist the Benefit Manager in the administration of all company benefits as needed.

What We Are Looking For: Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree
Experience:
  • 2-3 years of prior office and/or administrative duties including experience with Leave of Absence (FMLA, ADA, Workers' Compensation, and disability).
  • Proficient in basic software applications (e.g. Microsoft Suite).
  • Planning, organizing, professional written and oral communication, problem solving, decision making, and attention to detail.
  • Able to work independently and make decisions with certain prescribed limits on essentially procedure-oriented operations.Handle multiple high priority tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Individual must be able to handle critical and confidential matters in a trustworthy and professional manner.
