The Master of Social Work program at CSU Pueblo prepares students to be advanced social work practitioners with the knowledge, skills, and values for creating effective processes required to serve diverse client populations in systems of all sizes. As an advanced generalist program, the curriculum includes a strong focus on intervention at multiple levels, advanced policy analysis, and research skills. The program courses meet on weekends only, every other weekend (8 times) in the Fall/Spring/Summer semesters and includes required online learning. Description of Job This non-tenure-track, nine-month position (with summer teaching possibly available), provides teaching, scholarship, and advising/service to the Department of Social Work on the main campus in Pueblo and satellite campus in Colorado Springs (approximately 35 miles from Pueblo). This includes the standard teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester, and any additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned in alignment with the Faculty Handbook.Primary Duties
  • Teaching master level social work courses and advising students, location depending on course needs. This includes the standard teaching load of 12 credit hours per semester preparation of materials, syllabi, measuring student learning outcomes, ordering, and using appropriate textbooks, preparing all methods of evaluation and grading the work submitted, and monitoring attendance for compliance with university standards, and recording grades.
  • Participating in CSWE accreditation compliance activities and suggesting and an advising load comparable to others in the department curricular updates and changes are included. The candidate must maintain office hours.
  • Building and maintaining a focused research agenda. Developing and implementing appropriate research studies, presenting results of this work at appropriate conferences, and publishing this work in discipline-appropriate, peer-reviewed publications.
  • Servicing the department, the college, the university, the community, and the profession through membership and leadership on various committees, both standing and ad hoc, consultation in various capacities, presenting educational inservices to entities, serving as a board member, and other such activities
Ancillary Duties
  • Attending Discover Day or Enrollment Extravaganzas, traveling to Colorado Springs for enrollment events, recruitment of students.

  • M.S.W. from a CSWE-accredited institution
  • Demonstrated ability to relate to and commitment to serving diverse populations and learners
  • 2 years post-MSW direct practice work
Preferred Qualifications
  • Licensed Social Worker or Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Colorado
  • One year of full-time teaching experience in a CSWE-Accredited master level social work program by August 2025.
  • Evidence of ability to teach across the MSW curriculum with expertise in practice, policy, or research coursework. Evidence of ability to develop and modify curricula.
  • Evidence of abilities to teach across face-to-face, online, distance, and hybrid platforms.
