Reports To: Supervisor

Bargaining Unit: COC CWA 4340

FLSA: Non-Exempt

The purpose of this classification is to perform routine and specialized receptionist, clerical data entry, and clerical accounting work which may include accounts payable and accounts receivable. Clerical duties include processing court filings such as motions, pleadings, journal entries, magistrate decisions, orders of sales in support of both criminal and civil courts. Classification also invoices, receives, records and provides receipts related to court proceedings and requirements; provide general information and assistance to County Court staff, attorneys, and the public. Legal Account Clerk 2s may also perform any duties regularly performed by Legal Account Clerks 1s.

Requirements:

High school diploma or GED, with three (3) years related experience; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Responsibilities:

* Prepares, processes, records, and maintains various court records including, but not limited to, journal entries, motions and pleadings, magistrate decisions, orders of sale. Prepares, assesses, processes and records accounting records and financial transactions including accounts payable and accounts receivable. Ensures accuracy and processes a variety of court records and legal documents; calculates costs; dockets and processes returns of sale for foreclosure cases; creates and prepares court issued notices; issues vouchers; prepares remanded, transferred, and removed case files; receives funds and payments by check, cash, and credit card; reviews, verifies, and records required information and transactions; prepares and sets up files, organizes documents, and files information in designated order; retrieves/replaces files; shreds/destroys confidential or obsolete documents; may prepare, validate, and scan files for digital imaging.

* Maintains the necessary accounting records to support processed transactions related to area of assignment; stamps, records and processes journal entries; directs journal entries to the appropriate workflow queues; records oaths and administrative entries; processes, enters, verifies and reconciles docket entries and numerical or financial data; researches inquiries to provide accurate response.

* Prepares certificates, basic reports, cost summaries, and documentation; verifies court dates; compiles and prepares routine reports; compiles basic technical information related to area of assignment; types, enters, proofreads and processes a variety of documents and data; enters court-related information into department databases; verifies information for accuracy and completeness

* Processes incoming and outgoing mail; retrieves, mails documents; sorts and delivers incoming mail; compiles and prepares documentation for mailing or delivery as needed; sorts, organizes, labels, and addresses outgoing mail; scans outgoing mail; delivers documents in person or through established mail delivery systems; maintains related documentation.

* Responds to questions regarding area of assignment; assists County Court staff, attorneys, businesses, and the public in person or by phone; provides basic information on court policies and procedures; receives and responds to questions and requests for documentation and information; redacts confidential information from documentation provided to the public; researches inquiries to provide accurate response.
