Legal Administrative AssistantLegal Aid of Western Ohio, Inc. (LAWO), a non-profit law firm that provides free legal help in civil legal matters to eligible individuals and groups in western Ohio, seeks an administrative assistant for its Lima office.The Legal Administrative Assistant provides essential case management and administrative support to ensure smooth, efficient office operations at LAWO. This role is pivotal in assisting our attorneys and case handlers in delivering quality legal services to low-income individuals.
Key Responsibilities: Case Management and Support: - Assist attorneys in case management, maintain organized case files, and prepare necessary case documentation.
- Ensure case records are complete, accurate, and accessible.
Administrative Tasks: - Provide support by drafting, proofreading, and formatting legal documents and correspondence.
- Manage attorney calendars, coordinate meetings, and handle travel arrangements as needed.
- Serve as a primary point of contact for clients and external parties, relaying messages and handling inquiries professionally.
Technical and Communication Skills: - Operate efficiently with strong proficiency in word processing, email, and calendaring software.
- Utilize telecommunications and network systems for effective case management and client communications.
- Ensure high standards in interpersonal communication, demonstrating professionalism in telephone, written, and oral interactions.
General Office Duties: - Organize office operations by managing office supplies and supporting billing and invoicing processes.
- Adhere to confidentiality protocols and demonstrate sound judgment in handling sensitive information.
Travel: - Be prepared to travel to other LAWO offices as needed to provide on-site support.
Experience and Qualifications: - Relevant secretarial experience with strong secretarial and organizational skills.
- Proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite, email, and calendaring software in a Windows environment.
- A demonstrated commitment to working with low-income populations and supporting the mission of legal aid services.
- Strong interpersonal skills, particularly in telephone communication and written and oral communication.
- Sound judgment and initiative with strict adherence to confidentiality.
- Valid driver's license, good driving record, and automobile insurance.
- Fluency in Spanish is preferred but not required.
- Prior experience in a law office or public service setting is advantageous.
Compensation, Benefits, and Work Location - LAWO is committed to providing an equitable work environment, including a commitment to pay equity. The starting annual salary for this position is $40,5000 and increases depending on experience.
