**Compensation Overview**

The annual base salary range provided for this position is a nationwide market range and represents a broad range of salaries for this role across the country. The actual salary for this position will be determined by a number of factors, including the scope, complexity and location of the role; the skills, education, training, credentials and experience of the candidate; and other conditions of employment. As part of our comprehensive compensation and benefits program, employees are also eligible for performance-based cash incentive awards.

**What Is the Opportunity?**

As a Legal Administrator at Travelers you will be responsible for coordinating Staff Counsel office activities and operations while providing legal assistant and administrative support to one or more attorneys including the Managing Counsel. As a team lead to the office support staff you will assist in directing daily work activities as well as provide training and coaching.

**What Will You Do?**

+ Your responsibilities will include:

+ Office Administration

+ Coordinate acquisition and ensure maintenance of legal research materials, office supplies and equipment.

+ Execute training and utilization of all office technology to ensure smooth workflow efficiency.

+ Ensure office equipment is fully operational. Troubleshoot technology and equipment issues and serve as liaison with IT partners.

+ Partner with office leadership team to maintain and modify legal forms and templates, standardization of templates (letters, forms, pleadings).

+ Complete Staff Counsel Support File Review Questionnaire and deliver feedback.

+ Administrative Support

+ Provide legal assistant support to assigned attorney(s) including but not limited to: act as a liaison with and between internal/external parties with work related communications; reviewing incoming mail to determine urgency and next steps; compose various legal documentation; calendaring; scheduling; service and filing of legal documents; inputting and maintaining information into case management system; and assist in trial.

+ Records billable time when applicable.

+ Provide back-up support to Law Office Administrator and support staff, as needed.

+ Ensure telephones are covered and answered according to office protocol.

+ Attract, Develop and Retain World Class Talent

+ Partner with office leadership team to establish and provide training for office staff in the use of all office systems, including case management system, protocols, and docket/diary procedures.

+ Partner with office leadership team to provide office orientation for new employees by clearly explaining office procedures, best practices, company policies and job duties, to ensure a positive experience.

+ Execute business plan to allocate support staff resources to meet the needs of the office and adjust as necessary to achieve department and organization objectives.

+ Monitor quality and efficiency of support staff performance and provide feedback to the Associate Managing Attorney and/or Managing Counsel.

+ Assist in effective coaching and development of support staff through mentoring, cross training and recommending development opportunities (e.g.; stretch assignments and training programs).

+ Participate in the interviewing and hiring process of support staff.

+ Information Management, Financial Reporting and Compliance Support

+ Partner with office leadership team to monitor appropriate usage of case management system by attorneys and staff to ensure data integrity and compliance with Staff Counsel guidelines, policies and best practices.

+ Execute office finance administration, as directed, to ensure compliance with company and staff counsel/first party financial policies.

+ Assist office leadership team with utilization, analysis and completion of reports, such as monthly management information reports as requested.

+ Perform other duties as assigned.

**What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?**

+ Associates Degree or equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience preferred.

+ Previous supervisory experience highly desired.

+ Job specific or technical competencies:

+ Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

+ Knowledge of legal and insurance terminology; court rules and procedures.

+ Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel & Outlook.

+ Excellent time management skills

**What is a Must Have?**

+ Minimum 5 years of prior experience as a legal assistant
