POSITION OVERVIEW
The Legal Affairs Associate will be part of the Legal Operations team in the Legal Department and will interact with members of all of the different business units of Bain Capital.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Responsible for the following tasks:
- Work closely with internal legal team and external legal advisors on a full range of legal issues facing Bain Capital's holding company, its investment advisers, affiliated funds and portfolio companies.
- Oversee entity management – manage formations, dissolutions, name changes and structure chart updates.
- Maintain legal and corporate records.
- Assist with the KYC process – completion of forms, structure charts, document collection, notarization, apostilling and responding to follow up questions from counterparties.
- Work with outside counsel to coordinate signature pages and organize deal transaction documents and closing binders.
- Contribute to the tracking, drafting and filing of SEC and other regulatory securities filings as needed.
- May be requested to perform other duties not mentioned above.
GENERAL QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree from a top undergraduate program with a strong academic background.
- At least two (2) years of business or legal experience; experience at a major law firm, company or in-house at an investment firm is a bonus.
- Diplomatic interpersonal skills to interact with the more than 1000 worldwide employees of Bain Capital and with the key partners of our external law firms.
- Excellent project management and organizational skills; ability to prioritize multiple projects with high attention to detail; strong sense of ownership and follow-through skills.
- Self-starter with initiative and confidence to take responsibility for decisions on time-sensitive matters.
- Creative problem-solving ability and sound judgment.
- Rock-solid discretion and capacity to handle highly confidential and sensitive information.
