The role:

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Legal Assistant to join our legal team. As a Legal Assistant, you will provide vital support to attorneys and senior paralegals in addition to helping the firm in day-to-day activities.

Your role will be crucial in ensuring the efficient functioning of our legal department and maintaining the highest standards of professionalism and accuracy.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide administrative support to the legal team, including managing calendars, scheduling appointments, coordinating meetings
  • Handling phone calls and correspondence with clients and other parties
  • Assist attorneys in preparing cases
  • Conducting or organizing research, analyzing data, and organizing other relevant information
  • Prepare case summaries, chronologies, and relevant documents for court proceedings
  • Communicate with clients, witnesses, and external parties to gather information, schedule meetings, and provide updates on case progress
  • Maintain professional and ethical relationships while maintaining client confidentiality
  • Coordinate with witnesses and experts, ensuring their availability and readiness for trial.
  • Maintain and update CRM databases, filing systems, and document repositories, ensuring easy retrieval and accurate recordkeeping
  • Assist in conducting due diligence reviews and compliance checks to ensure legal and regulatory requirements are met
  • Identify and analyze potential risks and discrepancies
  • Collaborate effectively with attorneys, other paralegals, and legal support staff, fostering a positive and cooperative work environment. Assist colleagues when needed and contribute to team goals

Minimum Requirements:

  • Education & Experience: Bachelor s degree in Paralegal studies or similar field or Paralegal Certification; or an equivalent mix of education and experience.
  • 2-3 years experience working in a firm required
  • Computer Skills: Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and related mail operation services software applications.
  • Language Skills: Ability to read and interpret documents such as legal files, business correspondence and procedure manuals; ability to write routine reports and business correspondence; ability to speak effectively, both in person and by telephone, to customers or employees of the organization.
  • Mathematical Skills: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs; ability to understand and interpret statistical reports, data charts and graphs.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to comprehend complex legal concepts and convey them clearly to clients

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail to maintain accurate client records
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while adhering to deadlines and maintaining a high level of productivity
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities, with the capacity to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and handle multiple projects simultaneously
  • Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Compensation: Salary range of 50,000 $60,000 dependent on experience
