Vernis & Bowling, an AV-rated insurance defense firm, is seeking a Legal Assistant for our Hollywood, Florida office. The ideal candidate must have a minimum of 1-3 years of first-party property experience and must have knowledge of state and federal law. Ideal candidates must be organized, reliable, and pay attention to detail. Candidates must have initiative, effective communication skills, and a strong work ethic. Candidates are required to exhibit professionalism and provide outstanding service.

This position will support multiple attorneys and involve the following tasks:

• Heavy calendaring and scheduling
• Managing attorneys' calendars as well as client reporting deadlines and court deadlines
• Preparing and drafting correspondence
• Trial preparation and review
• Organization of discovery documents, investigative files, etc.
• Billing
• Drafting motions

Proficiency in Word as well as proofreading, typing, editing, redlining documents, and experience working with legal case management programs are required.
