Job Description:

LHH is recruiting a Legal Assistant/Paralegal for the Detroit Office of a Regional Law Firm. The successful candidate will support up to 5 attorneys and will be responsible for workflow and administrative procedures in the office. The candidate will also serve as an occasional back-up to the firm's other offices as needed. Previous law firm or professional services experience is preferred. Proficient in MS Office 365 a must. Must be a team-player and available for occasional assignments after normal business hours.

Responsibilities:

Managing and coordinating attorney schedules and court deadlines.

Electronically file pleadings and motions in state and federal courts.

Transcribe dictation of correspondence, memoranda, legal pleadings, and other documents.

Coordinate logistics for conferences and depositions, including attorney travel arrangements.

Opening and closing case files, including managing client intake information.

Enter attorney billable time through automated systems and ensure accuracy.

Preparing monthly client invoices.

Maintain paper and electronic litigation files per team procedures.

Paralegal billable tasks including research, indexing, drafting pleadings, briefs, and memorandums.

General office management responsibilities which include office supply orders, mail management, equipment and facility repairs and maintenance, etc.

Qualifications:

Detail-oriented person with excellent organizational and problem-solving skills

Familiar with rules of court relating to formatting, filing documents including pleadings, motions, and appellate briefs in both state and federal court.

Working knowledge of litigation terminology, documents, and forms.

Notary Public

Intermediate to advanced skills using Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).

Bachelor's Degree in related field preferred.

Minimum of 3 years legal secretarial, paralegal, or similar experience with a private law firm.
