Seeking a Legal Assistant to join our awesome team. Are you passionate about helping people get to their happily ever after and lead fuller lives? We are an entrepreneurial family law, property litigation and criminal defense firm that is on track for aggressive growth and we need an experienced legal assistant to join our team and work directly with the owner, attorneys and other staff members to support the team and help our clients. We want to be known for helping and empowering our clients to come out of an extremely emotional process feeling as though they are a better person, in a better position, and that they had a team behind them that really cared and fought for them. We are growing fast, and we need a legal assistant who can hit the ground running. We love to help people learn and grow. But we don't have the time for that right now. We need an assistant with experience working in a trial and litigation law office. The ideal candidate will be able to take initiative on work that needs to be done and complete tasks with minimal hand-holding. This is a full-time job where you are expected to manage a caseload, so you absolutely must be able to work 40 hours per week. There is an opportunity to work from home. During the first 90 days of employment, the pay will be $24.04/hour (equivalent to $50,000 per year), with opportunities for increase after that. Responsibilities: This position will be responsible for important work, including: • Schedule appointments, court appearances, depositions and mediations for attorneys and clients; • Maintain Attorneys' calendars; • Calendar court, discovery and filing deadlines; • Draft emails and correspondences to clients, court personnel and 3rd parties; • Review, file and respond to emails and facsimiles daily; • Set up electronic files for clients in MyCase; • Maintain client files – electronic and physical; • Client Liaison as the client contact for the firm; • Assist with the onboarding process of new clients including creating and sending retainer agreements to potential new clients, Set up new clients in MyCase and collect credit card; prepare and upload intake forms to New Clients' MyCase files and payment information from new clients; • Assist with follow-up with potential clients; • Assist with collections of accounts receivables; • Monitor and assist with workflows; • Assist in drafting and filing of routine pleadings such as Notices of Appearance, Notices • of Leaves of Absence; • Log outgoing mail in mail log • Make copies • Keep inventory of office supplies • Post-office runs – for certified R/R/R and stamps • Assist with Motion assembly • Document management • Keep office tidy • Small tasks on an as-needed basis • Scan list-serve email for opportunities such as referrals for me or other If these statements appeal to you, then you may be our Legal Assistant: • You smile when you answer the phone • You are an amazing scheduler with a sickening degree of attention to detail • You are very good with calendars, e-mail, spreadsheets, word processing, and the internet • Your middle name is “No Drama” • You are an awesome juggler of tasks and can change gears quickly • You do not think scanning and copying are “beneath you” • You are a problem solver and a solution seeker • You care about making am impactful and positive difference in the lives of others Qualifications: • College Graduate • Legal Experience • Typing Proficiency (Determined by an Assessment) • Legal Research Software • US Work Authorization • Customer Service Skills • Strong writing skills Compensation: $50,000
