Job Description:
Legal ClerkROLEWe need a Legal Clerk for the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Secretary, Departmental Appeals Board. As a Legal Clerk, you are responsible for managing acknowledgment orders, updating cases in electronic systems, maintaining case files, handling mail, including Ready-To-Go Decisions, and completing routine administrative tasks and reports on a weekly basis.   • Review and prepare acknowledgement orders
  • Enter new appeals and update cases in the Electronic Case Tracking System and E-Filing System
  • Create and maintain case files
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail including Ready-To-Go Decisions
  • Perform routine administrative filing and prepare weekly administrative reports
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
  • Ability to analyze issues and apply laws and regulations to facts presented
  • Experience typing and formatting correspondence and legal forms
  • Proficient in operating a personal computer
  • Experience with various Word Processing software such as Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Adobe Pro
  • Ability to effectively communicate orally and in writing
REQUIRED EDUCATION / CERTIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree or one year of experience in applying laws and regulations to facts presented

CLEARANCE
  • U.S. Citizenship and ability to pass background investigation to handle sensitive information
  • May be subject to HSPD-12 credentialing requirements
CLIENT

TRAVEL
  • Travel may be required
WORK HOURS
  • 40 hours per week
  • 8 hours per working day
