Job Description:

Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation is seeking a Vice President to join its Lender Finance Group. The candidate will work with the underwriting / execution team to support senior bankers in the origination, execution, and monitoring of lender finance transactions. This role will also work closely with originators to support marketing efforts by drafting proposals and negotiating term sheets.

The Vice President is expected to lead and manage every aspect of the transaction due diligence, underwriting, credit approval, and closing processes including:

* Conduct due diligence and relevant analyses to identify potential structure risks of proposed transactions.

* Evaluate counter-party risk, propose strategies for portfolio ramping and monitoring, and design creative financing structures for proposed lender finance opportunities.

* Develop marketing materials and pitch books.

* Actively participate in term sheet drafting and negotiations.

* Manage deal teams and junior underwriters to initiate and complete credit approval applications, and work with Credit Department to address credit concerns in order to secure credit approvals.

* Coordinate information flow among asset manager clients and internal stakeholders in Lender Finance Group, Credit Department, and supporting departments to ensure successful and seamless execution of transactions.

* Work closely with originators and legal counsel to draft, review, and negotiate loan agreements.

* Collaborate with capital markets sales desk to syndicate and distribute transactions when opportunities arise.

* Liaison with KYC department to onboard new customers and with Operations to close, fund, and service transactions as Admin Agent.

* Actively maintain and monitor transactions post close including annual reviews, amendments and waivers, extensions and repricings, and partnering the Collateral Team to address any collateral issues that might have facility level impact.

Qualifications

* 5 - 7 years of specialized experience in loan securitization with strong structuring and quantitative modeling skills.

* Experience in term sheet structuring and negotiation, legal documentation, and deal execution

*Experience in developing, modeling and structuring rated and non-rated private credit and project finance asset-based securitization facilities, structured transactions and warehouses.

* Strong understanding and knowledge of lender finance market and trends of other alternative investment markets such as CLOs, SMAs, commingle funds and BDCs.

* Deep understanding of regulatory environment and its impact on leveraged loans and other securities.

* Familiar with middle market leveraged loan structures and market trends.

* Strong written and verbal communication skills.

* Preferred: CPA / CFA, working knowledge of Bloomberg and Capital IQ.
