Summary The IT Systems Engineer role is to ensure system operation and functionality so that end users can accomplish business tasks. IT Engineers are expected to display good interpersonal skills as they will interact with colleagues from various departments, executive levels, and customers daily. Systems Engineer III Responsibilities:
  • Perform Systems Administration tasks for on-premises systems including Windows Server administration via Active Directory, File & Print services, DNS, DHCP.
  • Perform Network Administration tasks for on-premises systems including firewalls, switches, and access points.
  • Perform Cloud Systems Administration for Microsoft 365 services including SharePoint, Teams, Exchange, Entra ID, and Intune.
  • Design, develop, and deploy new network, server, and cloud solutions and architectures for customers.
  • Migrate on-premises infrastructure to cloud environments and recapitalize on-premises infrastructure based on customer requirements.
  • Assess customer environments to understand and develop recommendations for security enhancements, system replacements, and service enhancements.
  • Work with key customer stakeholders to advise and secure backing for critical system changes, upgrades, enhancements, and replacements.
  • Prioritize incidents and service requests according to defined processes to meet defined SLAs.
  • Provide escalated support for L2/L3 requests from the service desk.
  • When needed, provide support for incoming L1 requests to the service desk via telephone, web portal, email to ensure courteous, timely, and effective resolution of end-user issues.
  • Perform hands-on on-premises support when needed such as drive replacement, delivery of peripherals, and installation of new computers and network devices.
  • Bring a compliance and security mindset to all work performed and system designs and recommendations to ensure company safety and security standards are met.
Systems Engineer III Requirements:
  • College diploma or university degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Cybersecurity, or a related field, or 5+ years equivalent work experience and relevant industry certifications.
  • Significant experience (5+ years) with Microsoft Windows Server and Desktop operating systems. MacOS and Linux experience preferred.
  • Significant experience (5+ years) with Microsoft 365 Administration including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, Entra ID/AAD. 365 licensing experience preferred.
  • Significant experience (5+ years) with networking hardware including firewalls, switches, and access points and associated concepts including routing, VLANs, and Wi-Fi planning.
  • Experience with Sophos, SonicWall, and Meraki are a plus.
  • Experience with host-based virtualization. Preferably Hyper-V and VMWare.
  • Experience with storage systems (appliance and server-based) and associated hardware and concepts including interface technologies and RAID management.
  • Experience with cloud system migrations including File Server to cloud storage, Exchange on-premises to Exchange Online, and AD to Entra ID/AAD/Intune.
  • Experience with Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery including backup system architecture, backup validation, High Availability (HA), and active/passive failover.
  • (Preferred) Experience with cloud infrastructure systems including Azure, AWS, and GCP.
  • (Preferred) Experience with MDM systems such as Intune, JAMF, or Mosyle
  • (Preferred) Experience with managing customers subject to compliance regimes including standards such as PCI, HIPAA, FINRA, NIST, and DFARS/CMMC.
  • (Preferred) Experience implementing and supporting VoIP and UCaaS systems.
