Valid Mississippi teaching certificate with endorsement in the applicable content area(s)A minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in a field of education or appropriate to certificationSuch alternative to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriateand acceptableTERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Salary and work year to be established by the School BoardREPORTS TO: PrincipalJOB GOALS: To provide students with the library materials and services most appropriate and most meaningful in their growth and development as individuals. To provide support to teachers as they effectively implement the evidence-based instructional curriculum driven by the MS College-and-Career-Readiness Standards in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and achieve their academic potentialJOB RESPONSIBILITIES: Such duties as may be assigned, including but not limited to, the following:Meets all professional conduct standards as set by MS Educator Code of Ethics Standards of ConductProvides reading enrichment activities for studentsDevelops short and long-range goals for the media center programDevelops and implements procedures for the media centerMaintains the media center to be an attractive, functional, and orderly environment with an atmosphere conducive to learningManages the library budget including special funds allocated to the library programProvides a balanced, up-to-date collection of both print and non-print materials including technology to support the school's instructional programClassifies, catalogues, processes, and organizes materials for circulationEstablishes circulation procedures for easy access to the media center collection and maintains records on the use of its resourcesAccounts for materials through a yearly inventory and removes inappropriate, worn-out, or outdated itemsProvides orientation and instruction for students and faculty in the use of the library media center's materials and equipmentAssists students and teachers in locating information and resources for researchEncourages reading by maintaining an awareness of students' reading interests and by providing guidance in the selection of appropriate materialsWorks cooperatively with teachers to integrate research, information retrieval skills, and library appreciation into the curriculumPromotes a positive relationship with students, faculty, administration, and communityDetermines instructional needs within the library media program by consulting with teachers and administratorsPublicizes library media programs and servicesDistributes written communications to inform teachers of new materials in the media centerDevelops and communicates goals, objectives, and budgetary needs for the library media program to administratorsStays current with new library media trendsParticipates in professional organizations and activities relating to library media and technologyProvides access to professional materials/information for the faculty and staffCollaborates with other faculty and staff, parents, administrators, and district support staffParticipates in professional growth activities monitored through the MS Professional Growth SystemReports on time to duty posts and performs duty responsibilities as assigned by school administrationFollows all board policies and proceduresMaintains regular attendance and is punctualPromotes the district's vision, mission, and goalsPerforms any other duties as assigned by school administration
