Position Title: LibraryAssistant - Cataloger IIReports To: Director of Library ServicesDepartment: Academic AffairsClassification: Full-time, Hourly, Benefits EligiblePOSITION OVERVIEWThe Library Assistant - Cataloger II is an entry-level position responsible for cataloging, providing reference assistance, collection development, and technical services. This position will also be responsible for inventory of the collections, management of special collections, evaluation of data, and special programming.DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Catalog materials (Print and Electronic)
- Create online surveys and evaluations
- Assist in preparing annual reports
- Create cross-training methods for student workers
- Assist at Information Desk and in Archives
- Conducts library instruction as needed
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's Degree
- At least 2 years of library or related experience; academic library experience preferred
- Available to work a flexible shift including some evenings and weekends
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of common library practices and procedures
- Strong customer service skills
- Ability to communicate effectively orally and inwriting
- Familiar with integrated library systems
- Experience using Microsoft Office with emphasis on Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Publisher
- Ability to work independently with little supervision
WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICIAL DEMANDSWhile performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, use hands to handle, or feel to talk and to hear. The employee, frequently, is required to walk, reach with hands and arms to stoop, kneel, or crouch. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 lbs.
